ludhianvi Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 How much does a player run while playing a cricket match? While the GPS tracker would be a better indication especially while fielding, let's see how much Tendulkar ran while batting in the WC. This is the minimum that he ran as I've taken the 1 run =20m (the approximate length of the pitch; obviously batsmen run past the crease quite a few times ). This includes running while at the non-striker's end as well. So roughly Tendulkar ran 22 laps around the track where each lap is 400m or a minimum of 8820 metres. 334 singles 43 doubles 7 triples Too tedious to find out who ran the most manually :--D Match 1 Ind/BD 1x: 20 2x: 4 3x: 0 subtotal: 28 Match 2 : Ind/eng 1x: 76 2x: 13 3x: 0 subtotal: 102 Match 3 : Ind/Ire 1x: 43 2x: 0 3x: 0 subtotal: 43 Match 4 : ind/neth 1x: 8 2x: 1 3x: 0 subtotal: 10 Match 5 ind/sa 1x: 93 2x: 11 3x: 2 subtotal: 121 Match 6: ind/wi 1x: 1 2x: 1 3x: subtotal: 3 Match 7: ind/aus 1x: 29 2x: 4 3x: 1 subtotal: 40 Match 8: ind/pak 1x: 59 2x: 6 3x: 3 subtotal: 80 Match 9: ind/sl 1x: 5 2x: 3 3x: 1 subtotal: 14 TOTAL : 441 Amount run : 441x20m =8820 ~ 22 laps
Ultimate_Game Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Well there are plenty of things that need to be added... 1. Sometimes when you hit a 4 you actually keep on running unless the ball reaches the boundary or sometimes you still follow through and jog even though the ball will reach the boundary. 2. Backing up every time you are at non-striker's end. 3. Coming down the pitch every now and then to have a chat with your partner or at the end of an over.

True, you'd need a GPS tracker for exact measurements, this is a rough estimate. It's not possible to factor all this from textual commentary/scorecard and that's why I've mentioned it's the minimum he would have run,
maniac Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Despte bieng a SRT fanatic, it feels unfortunate that a 38 yearold displays more fitness, stamina and speed than 70-80% of the team...Gambhr,Nehra,Yuvraj,Munaf,Pathan,Sreeshanth,Bhajji,Sehwag,Ashwin,Chawla...Probably Kohli,Raina and Dhoni are the only people who can match his swiftness and stamina on the feld.
Legend of Dhoni Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Don't forget to count him running back to the dressing room after getting out!
Zero_Unit Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Can't believe that he can still run all those runs all by himself
