Wikipedia says its because the original guidelines prohibited the award from being posthomously but since then the guidelines have been changed and many have got the award after their death. Is Mahatma Gandhi above the Bharat Ratna award?

Gauss was promoted for purely superiority sake, for people just can't tolerate Indians achieving greatness and the heights which these guys can't.

Yes, I would think so as well. Anyways, he is laready called father of the nation, so Bharat Ratna would sound inappropriate after that.

For that matter, what the **** do you know about Ramanujam's work that you can make such claims with the random conspiracy theories ?

Hardy commented that the "[theorems] defeated me completely; I had never seen anything in the least like them before".[57] He figured that Ramanujan's theorems "must be true, because, if they were not true, no one would have the imagination to invent them" Such stuff and the fact that he did all the great work w/o formal education, living in extreme adversity and illness. And all the stuff he did by the age at which other mortals start to get recognized. Not comparing with Guass - but Ramanujam was something out of this world.

As per Raymond Kurzweil - it is most likely to happen within next 50-60 years or so. However, people like Ramanujan, Einstein etc. makes me re-think - may be it will take more time.

Afridi has more natural talent P.S, not laughing at Ramanujam but at the way you put it, though it might be true in this case

For that matter, what the **** do you know about Ramanujam's work that you can make such claims with the random conspiracy theories ? :giggle: and ya , most of ramanujan's work got into application or shall i say limelight of mathematical circles only a decade or later after he was gone (this much i can say without an doubts as i read it from the book 'The man who knew Infinity' by Robert Kanigel ) anyways never mind , not to take down anthing from ramanujan , i still feel hes the most original mathematician produced by India. just by readng a book called Corr's synopsis which had only some stated theorems and axioms, he set out to explore the world of mathematics
