One hit wonder :orderorder:
not a nice comment! its clear he had problems through which his career stalled.. talent can get easily lost in our current system ...nepotism minded morons like niranjan shah and shivlal yadav do not help either for people that made it (like sharath in ranji and aashish/badani/kumaran in ODI's), there are those who didn't make it and could have if luck worked out differently this is just one of more such stories!

a really good knock but it was on a batting friendly pitch against a less than stellar bowling attack too soon to make a judgement on this guy
so what is stellar attack then?? CSK has three great spinners, in Ashwin (he would walk in to playing XI for most teams), Randiv (who is good replacement for Murli) and Jakati (who has been steady)

He played for Rasthan Royals in a previous season but could not make it count given the limited opportunities. He's done well in the practice matches for KXIP and the think tank continued with him after the first game failure. Perfect timing by the Valthaty and the highest score and took the Orange Cap as well.

He has put some hard work in the one year it seems. Deep down he knows this is not going to help him getting a national call. But it will boost his chances in the next auction. Gilly has definitely seen him in the nets or else you wouldn't see him open instead of Dinesh Karthik who has opened for India.

If Ashwin, Randiv, and Jhakati are 'great' spinners what were Warne, Muarli, and Kumble?

Unfortunately it doesn't since non India capped players are governed by a maximum purchase price which is not high at all.

its a shame isn't it.. so he has to push for national side if he wants more money.. which can be achieved only through first class performance. By the time he proves something he would be 29 or 30 years old.

Murali Malinga Steyn Lee Swann Warne also, none of the CSK bowlers really looked at their best to me I want to see how this guy does against the worlds best before I make any judgement

he's not going to find a place in the Mumbai Ranji side based on this one innings performance in a t20 match. Will probably need to look at other teams. We already seen the effects of non-capped players like Manish Pandey getting banned for four games. Time to change the rule? Yes, what they can do is have like a 2M (or some value) franchise limit in the auction for the uncapped players if BCCI is concerned about protecting the 'young' talents. The theory itself doesn't hold much weight. Might as well put all the players in the auction to make it fair.

Yeah that's a pretty bad situation. It deprives free market bidding from a domestic T20 competition for these players even though they have skills to do well at that level.

Actually that rule is half arsed attempt from BCCI. They wanted to make sure that youngsters do not aim IPL contract as an end in itself. But on ground this leads to some hilarious horse trading.

If one really wants to make a judgement, then first class cricket would be the place to look for. Guys like Rahane and Pujara haven't returned many stellar performances in the IPL but are stalwarts in the domestic scene for sure. What IPL does is give a glimpse of the players to the fans really like trailer. The majority of fans can't watch the domestic cricket and like to see the upcoming players here even though it may not the ideal stage to judge the future of a player.

Correct, what separates Manish Pandey from someone like Saurabh Tiwary is one or two international caps. Oh and some odd million dollars
