anotherhawkeye
Depending on how it's organized, Big Bash could become quite successful. The corruption issues in IPL has tarnished it's image. Also without Modi, IPL is losing its shine. The main reason IPL has got all the big players is because there is no competition. If Big Bash uses draft instead of auctions that favor the players and have pitches that favor the bowlers, they could easily get better players. The player facilities are better in Australia. CA is known for organizing big tournaments very well. Does IPL/BCCI has anything to fear about Big Bash?

BeautifulGame
not even Aussie national players are not interested in Big Bash . . Also Aussies dont have the billion plus market like IPL to pay handsomely to foreign players .So it will be just English T20 tournament not like IPL
vvvslaxman
Bigbash is not even going to achieve 10% of IPL's success..
anotherhawkeye
Big Bash will be televised in India as well, most probably. It'll have Indian players also so there is some incentive for Indian audience to watch it. Main question is, will it take off with Indian audience? If Ganguly, Tendulkar, Dhoni, Shewag, Yuvi, etc. play in Big Bash, would you watch it? I would.

Even if you have Dhoni and sachin no one in India will watch a match that starts at 2.30 pm . But its all pointless because no major Indian players will part in it because 1) We dont have any break in our International schedule 2) We will have our domestic tournaments (Ranji Trophy ) taking place during that time. SO not even fringe players will be allowed
vvvslaxman
Do no think Indians will take part.. schedule will be too crowded.

Zelig
spin bowling quality though is very poor in big bash. Agreed. But, the seam/swing bowling is good compared to IPL n the overall ground fielding n catching is right up there. But the euphoria IPL creates is unmatchable. ganeshran
big Bash can match the success of IPL if they are able to match the payment. They will only be able to match the payment if Indian audiences are interested, because cricket doesnt have the undivided attention of the Australian audience
anotherhawkeye
Quality of Big Bash > IPL. They don't drop dollies like MSD did today :beee: Oh come on. Even in WC, there were dropped catches by international players. Quality depends only on the format of the tournament and the players who play. Period. vvvslaxman
I agree .. please do not judge a tournament by dropping catches. Srilankans dropped Eion Morgan 4 times in the world cup. Pakistan dropped Sachin 3 times. There were countless drops in the world cup matches.

Except for weekend matches, the timing would be inconvenient for the sub-continent. That may be the biggest downfall for Big Bash.
