How to make Test cricket "better"

Definitely. It's much better these days. Cricket is ever evolving. From Test to 60 over ODI to 50 over ODI to 20/20. May be it's time for test matches to evolve little bit. Or may be not.

Test cricket has only gotten better. Australia set the bench mark of scoring 300 plus in a single day of Test match regularly in the 2000. They gave life to Test cricket like nobody else with aggressive cricket. Introduction of T20 and increase of One dayers took some gloss of cricket. Not because they are better. But because players are not consistently available. They pick up injuries or they take early retirements or they are not operating at 100%.. If we can address those issues we will stop worrying about modifications in Tests.

Frankly most of the matches I ve seen over the past few months have been awesome for test cricket. The only change I would see is make the pitches more responsive. Seen too many of the dead slow wickets. I am actually for draws because that adds another element to the game. And hard fought draws too are very entertaining. So many games have been lost where batsman thought about playing for draw. But among the options listed above I d say 4 days 100 overs and d/n.

Suggestion 1> Dont change the current 5 day format of test just rename test cricket to IPL T20. This way people will be fooled to follow test cricket.. This is called old wine in new bottle, works for wine , so should work for test cricket too. Suggestion 2> Have secret matches in closed doors instead of publishing schedule and broadcasting matches. From a player point of view this should not make any difference because no one watches the matches any way. From organizer point of view it will be cheaper because no money will be spend on marketing and broadcasting. From our point of view we all can go back to doing what we do best focusing on watching all the T20 and one day matches.
