2012 World T20 Qualification

The road for 2012 WT20 Qualification has started. A total of 102 Teams will take part in WT20 or through the qualification. The 2012 WT20 will have 16 teams. 10 test nations and 6 Qualification spots. In 2012 a qualifying tournament will take place for the 6 spots on grabs. A total of 16 teams will be taking part in the qualifying tournament. Like FIFA the spots have been reserved region wise ODI Status Nations-6 (Afg, Can, Ire, Ken, Neth & Scot) Asia:- 3 Europe:- 2 Africa:- 2 Americas:- 2 EAP:- 1 The various tournament to reach these spots are as follows ASIA 2009-10 (Various hosts):- ACC tournaments in Senior, U-19, U-15 to determine ACC rankings. Teams eliminated based on ranking:- China, Brunei, Singapore, Qatar, Iran, Bahrain, Myanmar & Thailand ACC T20 (Nov, Nepal) :- Afghanistan, Nepal, UAE, Oman, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Bhutan, Kuwait, Maldives, Saudi Arabia The top 3 teams besides Afghanistan will qualify for the WT20Q AFRICA ICC Africa Division 3 (Feb, Ghana):- Cameroon, Gambia, Lesotho, Mali, Morocco, Rwanda, Seychelles. It was won by Rwanda defeating Seychelles and qualifying for Africa Div 2 ICC Africa Division 2 (Apr, SA):- Zambia, Ghana, Malawi, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, Swaziland, Tanzania, Nigeria, Botswana, Winner Africa Div 3(Rwanda) ICC Africa (Premier League) (Jul, Ken):- Kenya, Uganda, Namibia, South Africa Emerging, Zimbabwe Emerging, Winner from ICC Africa Division 2 The 2 teams ranked highest besides SA, Zim & Ken will qualify for the qualifier AMERICAS:- ICC Americas Division 3 (Mar, Costa Rica):- Belize, Chile, Peru, Mexico,Costa Rica, Falkland Islands Belize defeated Peru to reach Americas Div 2 ICC Americas Division 2 (Apr, Suriname):- Bahamas, Belize (Winner Americas Div 3), Brazil, Panama, Suriname, Turks and Caicos Islands Suriname Defeated Panama to qualify for Americas Div 1 & WCL Div 8. On international forums it was said that India does not care about anything outside India. I used to fight, but seeing the response to this article I can surely say ppl were right :). I had posted this on many pages and got a response everywhere except on the Indian site. Indians have become toooo big in cricket to care about anything happening outside

Do you reckons any of Scotland, Ireland, Afghanistan, Holland, Canada or Kenya will fail to qualify. It would be quit nice to have an up and coming nation in the next T20 WC. Ireland, Afghanistan and Holland are certainties to qualify. Afghanistan actually look like a very promising cricketing nation from what i have seen, especially with regards to bowling.

Yes Dude ICC has got 105 members. Through this tournament 102 will be a part of qualification. Obviously 10 out these 102 nations aka test nations directly qualify without playing any qualification. The 3 non participating members are St Helena (Pop of 1000), Cuba and one nation I am not able to identify. I will be giving the updates of the tournament that have happened every day one by one

Not as good as it sounds lol. USA has a cricket team but 99.99% of the population only think of the insect but somebody says cricket. And out of those 102 teams playing for qualifications, about 90 of those teams are entirely made up of expats - Indians, Pakies and Windie brothers. Take a look at Germany's team for instance. Some legit homegrown teams are there, for example there's actual homegrown Japanese players in Japan national team but they suck too much and don't win anything.

Someone here posted about Chinese cricket team. How are they? I am afraid that one day China will become a force to reckon with in cricket. :((

Presently not good but when they started they won nothing, in last tournament they won something. Now recently they played a match with MCC and performed very nicely. Their plan is very simple. Introducing games to many people and focusing very hard on Women cricket. I will not be surprised that in 5 years their women team will be one of the top team. That will raise the profile of the game and also help the men's team which already would also have improved and this will be the knock punch to enter international stage

90 would be a incorrect number. People might know but cricket is one of Top games in Nepal, Afghanistan, Kenya, Bermuda, Vanuatu, Uganda, Namibia, PNG, Bhutan, Maldives, Seychelles, Botswana, Samoa, Cook Islands, Tonga, Fiji and some more countries. Many teams have got local players too.

Yeah China has a lot of locals playing in their team which is awesome to see. Inclusion in Asian games certainly does help. Next one is in South Korea so expecting both men and women's Chinese team to do better. Their goal is to play ICC international 20/20 ODI World Cups by 2020.
