VRV Singh Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Is this guy the most hyped phail around? I even see people saying he should be on the tour to West Indies... worse still as our first-choice wicket-keeper :woot: :giggle: It baffles me when there's a whole host of tamasha sloggers to choose from, ppl want the guy doing the least.. But even talking generally, I don't know the reasons why he regains much popularity amongst fans, yet ppl rush to crucify for example, Jadeja's potential selection
Ultimate_Game Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 He should be on the tour. Don't go by today's performance but overall he has improved quite a bit. Earlier his lone aggressive shot was walking down the pitch and try to manufacture a shot. He has worked on his game and has expanded his repertoire quite a bit and I would very much like to see him with the national team as backup wk to Dhoni. Pls keep in mind he had performed reasonably at intl level - won us a lost game against Eng in Eng, performed decently in T20 Cup which we won and was pretty good as an opener in Aus when we won CB Series. He definitely does deserve a look-in.
abhinav Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 What I hate about him is the inconsistency, just can not rely on him.
jaggadaku Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 What I hate about him is the inconsistency' date=' just can not rely on him.[/quote'] Exactly. He has very high risk game and needs to work on his shot selection
Rahul Dravid Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 he can time the ball as well as anybody. and plays Down the ground, which i think is always a sign of a good positive batsman. He is inconsistent, but i still think he is worth another go...

He is inconsistent, but i still think he is worth another go... Plenty of domestic blokes can time the ball well, he can probably hit the ball harder then most but that does not compensate for his hit or miss technique. He is well behind in the que as of now. I'd much rather have Rayudu, Valthaty, Venu, Badri, Rohit or even Manoj Tiwary in for the WI tour ahead of Robby U.
rajmarie Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 If Dhoni takes a break...I will rather have Uttappa go as wk....& he can double as a explosive hitter down the order.....
Sid Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 He got out to ball of the tournament so far today,no shame in that
Zelig Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Both "The Balls of the IPL" were bowled by Tams - Watson b Balaji Uthappa b Ashwin :csk:
yoda Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Both "The Balls of the IPL" were bowled by Tams - Watson b Balaji Uthappa b Ashwin :csk: Stop rubbing it in. People are already depressed. :hahaha:

glogirl Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 @zelig that wicket of utthapa was a beauty. most probably the best wicket ashwin has ever took, it still in my eyes.

achilles Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Low mental strength. He threw his wicket away coz Ashwin was rushing in to bowl when he was simply taking guard. Also, he is inconsistent. But with Yuvraj also turning into a retired slogger, he will have his chances if he ups his game.
NareshK Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 He has always been inconsistent. The main reason why he was dropped from the Indian team. He plays some good shots but overall not particularly a good batsman.

Yes, on current form I would take Valthaty over Uthappa for the WI series. I'd love to know more about Uthappa's consistency though.
