Why don't you come and watch a test match in Australia? Than you'd know what to do with those stats of yours.

again bringing Ganguly in a thread which has absolutely no relation to him :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:

few points for the fans to ponder over: -> its easier for fast bowlers to bowl at chest level n above to shorter guys which is harder to score off most times. -> smaller guys have comparatively lesser power n smaller swing of the bat (can't hit the big shots as often). So they rely more on application, hitting the gaps n timing than bigger batsmen to score runs. This requires more skill n is a harder thing to do. -> so, many(not all) fans might be placing slightly higher value(in terms of skill n difficulty) to sachin's 30k runs than say if a Symonds had scored those runs. Is it not a possibility?? -> If yes, Would the fans be necessarily aware of this?? its nothing much, but at look this vid (which i just came across while killing time on youtube), jonty rhodes mentions sachin's size a couple of times..
your opinions are welcome....

wouldn't be fair to compare balls faced in test cricket bcoz both players have different styles, play at different pace. If you compare the total innings played, Sachin has 733 for india and kallis has 546 for SA (74.4% of sachin)....

Okay.
You're right. Time has come for all of us to bow down to VD's cricketing wisdom. No point questioning him, let's all nod in agreement to his future posts..'okay'?

Sachin has also scored more than 10' date='000 runs and your point?[/quote'] 1. Sachin bats with higher Strike rate in test cricket while Kallis also scores the big runs while taking more number of balls. For ex., Say if Sachin faces 65 balls on average for 50 runs and kallis takes 75 balls for his 50,.... Its not fair to compare no. of balls. Compare the number of innings , Sachin(733) has 25% more innings than kallis(546) and has scored ~9100 runs more. Kallis has higher test and ODI batting average than sachin. Another small point: 2. No. of balls faced by Sachin in test cricket is not known either. See here: http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/player/35320.html As well as here, its written 48,137+ balls (exact number not known) faced: http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=11;filter=advanced;orderby=balls_faced;qualmin1=10000;qualval1=runs;template=results;type=batting hope you understand

Kaliis and Big Runs - am I missing something :hmmm: Are you talking about the same Kallis who made the 1st double century of his career in December last year? Or the same Kallis who has only 12 scores of 150+ out of his 40 centuries in Test matches (forget about comparing to Goddy, even Sehwag has 14 scores of 150+ even though he only has 22 centuries)

You say as though scoring at a substantially higher S/R in both formats over a lot many more inngs is like piece of cake ... and has no implications ? Keep in mind that Kallis did not have to deal with his fellow meanies like Donald,Steytn,Pollock,Ntini etc ... instead he had to deal with the Indian bowling attack. look at the Not out column :acute: I sooo knew you would say that .... :hysterical: The problem is that it is due to the lazy scorers in ONE Single Test Match against SL way back in early 90s who did not record the no.of balls faced in the one inngs that SRT played in that match. IIRC he got out in single digits and it simply does not alter his S/R beyond the 3rd digit after the decimal point. :--D Let me know if you want the scorecard for this match.
is it this match: http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/63548.html Goddy made 11 runs in that match. Hell lot of a difference that would make to the total number of balls he has faced in a career of 21+ years :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:

Becoz I dint know and accidentally saw it when I wanted to compare test match strike rates(which is missing in sachin's stats)
