was tht supposed to be answered?? coz there's no relation with kallis Vs tendu where the gap in stats and performances through the years is glaringly evident.... warne 464 innings 1001 wkts Second Most no. of wkts(708) in the history of test (this counts for more than ODIs) cricket dominated all across the world( except in india relatively) gave life to the art of leg spin. pollock 499 innings 814 wkts 421 wkts in test cricket. significantly less compared to warne underrated allrounder but still, a champion player. But, gets beaten by warne. as for kallis V tendu, never said its abt averages, its about the sheer weight of runs, wkts n catches that kallis has piled on over the yrs and about the factors mentioned in post#89. some said sachin scores (arnd 2.37) more runs per innings, to which I had replied: Kallis doesn't open the innings like sachin, so he doesn't get as much chance as sachin to maximize the runs that he can possibley get(before getting out that is). This is evident in 53 'not outs' from 300 ODI innings and 41 out of 442 for sachin.
your posts get dumber and dumber

Pollock has scored 7300 runs and 814 wickets Warne has scored 4172 runs and 1001 wickets So warne has scored only 57% of the runs that Pollock has scored, but Pollock has taken 81% of the wickets that Warne has taken ======================================== Kallis has scored 23201 runs and taken 534 wickets Tendulkar has scored 32803 runs and taken 199 wickets. Tendulkar has taken 37% of the wickets Kallis has while Kallis has scored 70% the runs Tendulkar has ====================================================== So if you say Kallis > Tendulkar then by that association Pollock > Warne.

Vaibhav still in battle with Bossbhai, has now encountered a tough arguement from Outsider regarding greatness of Warne and Pollock :nervous: Will Vaibhav forfeit this battle as well or will he respond with much greater numbers to swing the arguement in his favour ,we shall see .............

I just had one question At what point does a player go from being a good player to a legend? Is it after X average? Is it after comparing with Y batsman? Is it just stats? Are there several intangibles and variables involved? If only stats and numbers decided who is greater, just put all the inputs into a computer and get the rankings out. Why do you need experts and critics? Can we tell by stats who plays a flute better or who is a better scientist? Surely you would laugh at someone judging Mozart on the basis of stats? To me being a great cricketer transcends stats. You either have it, or you don't

Along with Statsguru you also need to be brilliant like Vaibhav (:adore:) to be able to see through all those stats.

V_d will most likely follow this strategy now:- 1) Make the same points recycled in a different language and how his post #56957366 was not responded to 2) Claim to be victim of ridicule on the forum and about how people attack him personally and hence he will stop posting in the thread even though he has won the argument (in his mind) 3) stop posting on the thread and rarely visit ICF for the next 1-2 weeks. 4) Come back after 2 weeks and make hit-and-run attacks on Sachin and Ganguly in totally unrelated threads. 5) Again hijack a thread and start comparison of Sachin with cricketer XYZ and get pwned. 6) Go to step 1. Repeat.

Who is the greater cricketer - Warne or Pollock? Warne : Test Bowling average : 25.41 Test Batting average : 17.32 ODI Bowling average : 25.73 ODI Batting average : 13.05 Pollock : Test Bowling average : 23.11 Test Batting average : 32.31 ODI Bowling average : 24.50 ODI Batting average : 26.45 Now, vaibhav go back to your 'neutral' cricket forum and create a new poal (Warne or Pollock) - also let Wisden know what idiots they were to pick Warne over Pollock as one of the cricketers of the century. :hysterical:

:finger: as I said earlier, I lose the inclination to reply to dishonest n blind fans. so be happy taking the difference of test wkts (~300:woot:) n difference of bowling average(~2.3) as equivalent criteria while comparing warne n pollock. :two_thumbs_up: :hysterical:

Sachin has 9k more runs and a considerably better ODI SR Kallis has 335 more wkts and 46 more catches. Another way saying is that(probably not entirely accurate), kallis has accumulated nearly an equally great overall record(in terms of total runs, wkts , catches, SR in ODIs) while playing only arnd 74-75% of sachin.
This roughly means: If kallis had made debut in 1989 (alongside sachin) , eaten the space of 1 player in the playing XI, scored zero runs, took zero wkts and zero catches everytime he went on to play till 1995 (when he actually made his debut), and start performing afterwards (after 1995 that is), he would still have roughly an equally great overall record as sachin.
take whatever correction margin in above comparsion, kallis still blows away tendu's stats by a huge margin..... cheers

V_d answer outy's question first :orderorder: Once we have established that you consider stats to be the sole criteria for greatness, then we will continue the debate.

'kallis being the greatest of this generation' opinion is shared by many(I'd say majority of) neutral fans!! I can tell atleast frm my experience of an aussie forum...
After openly exhibiting your hatred for Sachin on neutral forums with posts like this , i wonder how you have audacity to call yourself as "neutral" on matters related to Sachin :giggle: http://forum.sportal.com.au/default.aspx?g=posts&t=80761 (post #23) Guys, now we know how much credibility should be given to V_D's posts on Sachin (in case anyone didn't know already :--D)
