DC never had control over Suman. He had the choice to play which ever team he wanted. Im pretty sure DC tried to retain Rohit but it also up to rohit to decide if he wanted to be retained or go in the auction. in which he went into the auction and it payed off. Symonds is getting old and not many ppl really care about him.
