Here are the recommendations from ICC Cricket Committee after the two day meeting at Lord's.. 1. Extending the use of DRS to ODIs and T20Is and for its use to be determined by the Host Board. 2. Trial of pink ball in first-class cricket and ICC Intercontinental Cup to determine suitability for D/N Tests. 3. Two balls should be used in each innings, one from each end in an ODI :hmmmm2: 4. Teams should only be allowed to take the batting and bowling power play between overs 16 – 40. 5. Trial of removing restriction on maximum number of overs each bowler could bowl in an ODI in domestic cricket. 6. Trials of having no compulosry close-catchers in ODIs in domestic cricket. 7. Number of bouncers that can be delivered per over to be increased from one to two. 8. Trials of a maximum of four fielders outside the 30-yard fielding circle during non-powerplay overs. 9. A captain be suspended for 1 match if his side is guilty of 2 minor over-rate offences in the same format over a year. 10. Umpires to take stricter action against batting teams guilty of time wasting. 11. Cricket Committee recommended that runners not be allowed in international cricket !! Still confused about UDRS. It should be everybody using it or nobody Like the idea of not limiting the maximum number of overs a bowler can bowl Only 4 fielders outside, not a good idea at all

4. Teams should only be allowed to take the batting and bowling power play between overs 16 – 40. Many a times the middle overs in an ODI turn out to be boring. This recommendation seems to be aimed at removing/reducing that. 5. Trial of removing restriction on maximum number of overs each bowler could bowl in an ODI in domestic cricket This could be really interesting and could give an entirely new dimension to the limited overs game. Just imagine what the likes of Kumble, Murali and Warne would've done with this rule 7. Number of bouncers that can be delivered per over to be increased from one to two. Good decision. ICC suggests qualifiers for 2015 World Cup

In what could be a major boost to Associate teams, the ICC has recommended there be a qualifier process for the 2015 World Cup and called for the implementation of the Decision Review System (DRS) in all Tests. In its two-day Cricket Committee meeting at Lord's on Wednesday, the ICC also encouraged the use of the pink ball by cricket boards worldwide for trial in day-night first-class cricket, and recommended its use in the Intercontinental Cup, involving Associate and Affiliate teams, later in the year. Among several other suggestions put forward was to amend the laws pertaining runners, with a proposal to do away with them in international cricket. The recommendations will not take effect until approved by the ICC's Chief Executives' Committee which will meet in Hong Kong between June 26-30 this year.

Can someone explain me what this over-rate offence means? I have heard about it but I still don't know what is it all about. I heard India was fined in the finals for slow over-rate. Can someone enlighten me?

The bowling team has to bowl its quota of 50 overs in 3.5 hours. If it fails to do so then the match referee can fine the Captain of the bowling team and also the entire team. Repeated offenses can lead to the Captain being banned for a match or two.

I think this means that they'd use two new balls simultaneously, i.e. both the opening bowlers in an innings would be bowling with new balls.

Don't worry, these are recommendations only. ICC Chief Executive Committee has to approve these changes and there we are well represented by Pawar and Srinivasan :winky:

This one is silly. We have a format for that, it's called Test cricket! The maximum quata for ODIs is what makes the game fun to watch in terms of strategic selection and overall team ability. Could imagine Shakib Al Hasan and Abdur Razzak bowling 25 overs each for Bangla, and packing their team with 9 batsman.
