Crookbond Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 TV ratings were the talking point of the IPL after the first week. The ratings are down and experts will debate over the possible reasons. Despite the shabby numbers, the IPL remains good enough as a cricket product and can compete as a TV product, even when compared to successful TV soaps or weekend events. But things can’t be taken for granted. IPL as a TV product will have lots of questions to ponder, for the ratings aren’t growing. The fourth edition had a valid reason to back the drop in ratings, considering most fans were quite possibly sated with the preceding World Cup. ganeshran Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 I personally found this year's IPL to be far better than last year. Last year, there was very less interest due to the World cup victory and celebrating chennai's win paled in comparison to what the Indian team had just achieved

After 46 matches, IPL 5 has recorded an average rating of 3.8 TVR (15+, CS, ABC), which is 3.1 per cent higher than last yearÃÔ 3.7 TVR. Excluding ad breaks and æxtraa Innings? the average rating after 46 matches has reached 4.67 TVR against 4.63 TVR last year. The cumulative reach after 46 games for IPL 5 has also risen to 151.6 million among CS 4+, ABC TG across all-India.
