Sid Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 2010 season KKR http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ipl2010/engine/records/averages/batting_bowling_by_team.html?id=5319;team=4341;type=tournament chris gayle had played 9 matches. McCullum 5. David Hussey 6 Hodge 4. Shane Bond 8. What else you need to win a T20? KKR won just 7 matches. They had a useful all rounder in Matthews. Had magic man Mendis. They didnt had enuf local talunt :hehe:

O.K. all these great players didnt perform or they were not in form to take KKR in the semis last time around.. Agreed.. But what I am telling with the form KKR's current players are in, they should'nt have been out by today.

Thats the problem, you need stability at the top. Here Top order was decided throughout the IPL , it was Kallis all the time playing for them, with him it was Either Gambo or Goswami. But with Dada's team Gayle, Mcculum all these guys came in and went out for the national commitments. You do the same with this KKR team see how far they go, the last season KKR only won ONE game less than this IPL team with none of the international players available for full, here part from Morgan most played completely throughout the tournament. Hussey, Mcculum, Hodge most were unavailable, Mendis yes he was available with Mathews, But you cannot be comparing allround abilities what Kallis and Yusuf provides that with Mathews. Thsi team is far better, Hence were one of the favourites for TOP 2 this IPL. Ever heard about that for the previous teams?
Andy Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Try poaching Dhoni after 2 years' date='good luck till then .......................mind you Gauti has brainfarts sometimes but is not that bad a leader as you think :icflove:[/quote'] Yeah you always rate anyone ahead of Sourav Ganguly as a leader, may be even a school boy:finger: I am a full time CSK supporter.:yay: Dhoni raaks.

Andy Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 I was just giving my POV about Gay's team this year :finger: :beee: You are very biased if you compare this team[available resources I mean] with the team that was available on Sourav Ganguly's disposal :beee:
vvvslaxman Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 But they played better cricket than MI (considering MI sucked badly in the last stage) and BRC throughout the initial round.. They were very consistent along with CSK..But some stupid decisions from Gambhir cost them the way forward.. They should have been playing friday.. He made some. But to say that Ganguly would have produced miracles with this team is far fetched. All 3 years KKR team was better on paper compared to retired Warne's team. Don't think KKR remotely looked like winning any. Infact they were the one team that was consistently ridiculed compared to other teams. All the other teams had their moments by reaching semi final. To borrow from Sachin "Other team is also there to win". Every team has their faults. Also you have to realize the loss in the first match can hardly be blamed on Gambhir. He was on the field right after world cup win. He had a totally new team to work with. Very little time to gel. So give benefit of doubt to Gauti. On form there is no way KKR is better than CSk or MI or RCB.

vvvslaxman Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Thsi team is far better' date=' Hence were one of the favourites for TOP 2 this IPL. Ever heard about that for the previous teams?[/quote'] Just one bad over cost Gauti to get that second spot. You can't blame Gauti for that can you? Previous match Balaji bowled 1 over picked 2 wickets for 7 runs. If that over had gone alright you would have been at no.2 . Anyway you look at it, he made some mistakes, he made some brilliant moves also. Dada did nothing. He was defensive right through the IPL all seasons.

They should have won against Kochi twice, [atleast], even if he gets away for the loss against CSK. Dada did nothing. He was defensive right through the IPL all seasons. Given the resources he had for two seasons a combined 27 points are Justified.
vvvslaxman Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Oh I see' date=' to beat Kochi twice and to defend 175 against MI and to chase 158 against CSK you need miracle?[/quote'] I don't say Gauti did miracles. He went with his instinct . Some of them he got it right. Some of them he didn't. New team, new franchise, new set of players, that too after world cup win. Ganguly an international captain for years. Gauti a novice at that. So with the amount of experience Ganguly had, he should have done a far better job at maximizing his resources.

Some sensible captaincy should have made them the top 2. They should have finished at No.1, with some sensible capatiancy (and also some deprived luck).
vvvslaxman Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 http://www.espncricinfo.com/ipl2010/engine/match/419118.html Tell me man to man which team is better

You are talking as if all the other teams are dummy teams who reached semi final by fluke. Vettori's captaincy is even more dumber than Gauti's.

Vettori didnt make any odd decisions..He was playing safe..
vvvslaxman Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 In that match Ganguly saved Bond for Yusuf Pathan. Before that they had reached 80 in 9 overs :phehehe:
