Chandan Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 I'd like our next gen batsmen who aren't playing any international matches, to get county contracts too, so that they learn to play swing and bounce too(on rare county pitches though). Guys like Pujara, Vijay, Rohit, Raina etc.. if they manage any contract, can certainly benefit with the exposure.

But not to worry what first class cricket has he played? Australian fc cricket in the 90's and early 2000's was pretty mediocre. Listen to most IPL coaches and they would tell you what a world class competition it is and how it is the closest thing to international cricket for young player which in reality it isn't. Langer can;t go aroundsaying this is a crap league and the standards are low.

Most overseas batting spots are taken by the Aussie seasoned pros like Di Venuto, Chris Rogers, Phill Hughes etc and the saffers like Mckenzie Rudolph etc. Bowling spots are relatively easier to grab. One way of getting a county cricket for our players is to let these players play in their t20/ODi leagues. Likes of Rohit and Raina would be in demand for the t20 league. With a few good performances there, they will definitely be in contention for long term county championship contracts.

England's domestic competition is better than ours when it comes to a fair contest between bat and ball. And I'm sure Serani would agree with me on this.

Irfan, Ishant, Sreesanth, RPS were all approached by counties last year, but the BCCI refused to give them the NOCs.
