Sir john Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 if anyone have visited this place than recommend me something.
Mariyam Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 SJ, Do the following in Agra 1) Taj Mahal: Subeh 8 baje ke karib visit karna. Bheed bhi kam hogi. Aur guides bhi fursat se sab bata/dikha payenge. Better you have a guide here, it'll help you appreciate the structure better. If its a full moon night, they have a special night tour of the Taj Mahal for Rs 3000 with light and sounds ( check with them). It is absolutely worth it. 2) Agra Fort: You don't need a guide here. 1-2 hours kaafi hain. 3) Sikandra : Badshah Akbar ka makbara. Its a nice structure with deers and rabbits in the lawns. Its a very huge thing and just walking there will take you a good 30 minutes. You don't need a guide here. 4) Handicraft market/ Agra bazaar : I had gone with my friends so we took a long time to explore the markets. Buy pethas. The leather is over hyped. The marble stuff is too heavy to carry back if you want to travel light. Jewelery stuff is all imitation that they rty to pass off as real. I bought a few "silver" anklets, and my dad laughed at me when I showed it to him. It was all impure silver. Don't go jewelery shopping here. Har shopkeeper se bargain karna. Don't ever pay more than 30% of what he quotes. 5) Mariyam ka tabut : :(( My namesake's tomb. Miss it if you are short of time. The structure is in ruins. 6) Baby Taj - 15 mins mein dekh sakte ho. 7) Fatehpur Sikri - It is about 40 kms away from Agra. There are many things to see at Sikri and it is one the better preserved archaeological sites in India. Easily you can spend 4 hours. Ask for a Bollywood guide. They'll show you exactly which movie/song was shot where all. I'm not much of a history freak, but this place is so clean and well preserved that its an enjoyable experience. Do not miss this. The road to Sikri is also good, so driving can be fun. 8) Bharatpur - Its a little ahead from Sikri, away from Agra. A bird sanctuary with loads of different types of birds. I was pretty bored there. 9) Mathura is on the way to Delhi. There are lots of Gujjus there. Also a nice and architecturally imposing Lord Krishna temple complex. Winter months are better to travel around. Summers will be unbearably hot, so there will be lesser tourists. That will work in your favour, as you can get Hotels at a cheaper rate. Don't settle for guides who roam around the Taj or Agra Fort. Everywhere ask your hotel to get you the guides or choose only the govt. approved guides. They are less likely to cheat you. 3 full days/ 4 nights are enough to cover everything if you plan well. Aur koi swaal ho to puch lena. :icflove: There is also a mental hospital in Agra, just in case you are interested. :P Joke.
