Scrap all bilatelal ties to play T20 league cricket and multinational tounaments

Is the case across the board for the IPL? TV ratings have been plummeting this year. Mumbai Indians are apparently the one franchisee that has been getting strong audiences but that might be because of the SRT factor more than anything.

I don't know what the actual attendance numbers are. This 80k number was explicitly stated during the game. I know for sure that at least last year it was hard to get CSK tickets and whenever they show games on TV, stands do look pretty full, though may not be 100%. There will always be teams doing better than the others attendance simply because fans like seeing winners and better run teams. It is true for any sport. Also, this year, the IPL did a big mistake by redoing all the teams and adding 2 extra teams so soon. These all take a toll.

I haven't watched the IPL this year but am happy to believe you that the stands look pretty full. But the IPL is driven by TV ratings, not ground attendances. If TV ratings keep falling, companies might start reducing their advertising expenditure on the IPL too. It won't be a worry just yet, maybe its just a one year decline due to new teams/players etc. but if audiences decline next year too, it will likely have an effect.

Like everything in life there are two sides sides to IPL story and the truth has shades of grey and not just black or white. IPL downside is player burn out and injuries, importance to IPL compared to intl games and youngsters preferring T20 to Tests. Positives of IPL is that players will get paid what they deserve and this will attract more youngsters to cricket, added bench-strength, local players getting more visibility playing in front of large crowds, domestic players getting confidence and learning from playing with & against intl stars etc. The ideal situation is for IPL to have a separate window so as not to risk player injuries & burn-out due to a hectic schedule - e.g., playing 5 days after the World Cup and then India touring WI just 3 days after IPL gets over!!!

Before the IPL India was number one, since the IPL India has the worst T20 team after bangladesh. but Even though I hate IPL you can't really blame them for Sehwag and gambhir making personal decisions to play rather then get their injuries sorted out. IPL is not mandatory.

Don't know, I am not saying its the cause of India becoming worse in T20Is but I heard alot of people saying IPL with international players would help Indias international T20 team but it obviously hasn't. IPL players have been total flops in T20I. Vijya, jadeja even Pathan to a certain extent. That means the Quality of IPL not as good as its fans think it is.

What will happen now is that Indian cricket team will begin to lose. It is inevitable. We are not that great a team that we can afford 2-3 quality players out against top sides. This might be a blessing in disguise imo. After acting like headless chicken and blaming everyone from Dhoni to new coach Fletcher finally the sword will come down on IPL

The very idea of IPL as preparation tournament to bilateral/trilateral International games is incorrect. Its a top level in itself. ODI players and T20 team are allmost same if not the same. Dont find our prepartion to ICC ODI/T20 world cup ever being disrupted by IPL. Now test cricket is another arena. Probably all the best players from all over the world are giving up test cricket to prolong their IPL career. I dont find any reason to blame IPL or players for the weakness of test cricket. Also you cant find a replacement for dada,sachin,laxman and Dravid overnight.

After the ICC world cup can you tell me anywhere else where you see conglomerate of so many stars and cricket talents. Kuein ka mendhak means toad confined to a well or pond... Any of them players when playing domestically or for/against your team play cricket when they do same in IPL it becomes tamasha. I commend your frontal lobe. :--D Check your stats. Pakistanis arent playing in IPL. Lee, Tait and all werent avaialble to play alongside with pathetic whining Ponting.
