Sri Lankan Cricket in terrible condition after 3 yrs.

Recommended Posts

The batting line up has to step up after Murali and score more runs but they're been average over the past 12 months. No one has really been in outstanding form. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=1;spanmax1=12+Sep+2011;spanmin1=12+Sep+2010;spanval1=span;team=8;template=results;type=batting
Dammika Prasad and Dilhara Fernando are amongst the highest averages. Encouraging signs.. :beee:

Dilshan isn't quite the right choice for captaincy. Either they should back to Sanga or Mahela ( provided they are interested) or make Samarweera the test captain and Angelo Matthews as the ODI captain.
:hysterical: ..will never declare.. he'll be batting all five days in SSC, and may try to fake the match official to have a 6th day if he can.. :hatsoff:

Sri Lankan cricket will be in a completely awful state after 2-3 years from now, with Sanga, Mahela, Dilshan,Samarweera all retiring, maybe Dilshan will stay till the next world cup, and Murali has already retired. If we look at the future prospects, welegadera and kulasekra are only good pacers they have, while in the Spin dept., Mendis looks ordinary once the batsmen have got used to him and Herath and Randiv are better bowlers than him, The batting dept. will be extremely weak compared to the present one or maybe even weaker when Jayasurya played fr Sri Lanka. Your views guys??
Welagedara and Kulasekara are just POS but the former has bit of more talent. Suranga Lakmal, Eranga, Prasad and Nuwan Pradeep are the ones expected to be SL's fast bowling future. All of them are brisk, latter two are more brisk, but wild. Mathews, Chandimal, Thirimanne, Rajapakshe are the future SL batting stars. SOmebody like Warnapura may make a comeback too.

Sri Lankan players unpaid since the World cup Very poor on the part of the board Source: http://www.espncricinfo.com/srilanka/content/current/story/538129.html

About 100 cricketers contracted to Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), including national players, have not been paid their salaries since the 2011 World Cup, co-hosted by Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh, BBC Sinhala has reported. There were also doubts over whether the SLC would be able to pay salaries in the next two months. "There is a truth in those media reports to a certain extent," SLC chairman Upali Dharmadasa was quoted as telling BBC Sinhala. Dharmadasa said efforts were being made to pay the players as soon as the SLC received the remaining payments from the ICC for staging the World Cup. "The ICC still owes us $4-5 million," he said. The board had revamped the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo and built two new grounds in Pallekele and Hambantota for the tournament in February and March, and the capital expenditure incurred is reported to have left it in debt.
