VRV Singh Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Achilles injury is a nasty one, probably even worse for someone at his age. If he's been cut due to the lasting impact then it's understandable. If hes a scapegoat for a series which he mostly didn't even play then
achilles Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Hughes is a choker. English pacers scared him into submission. And they dropped the gritty performer Katich for this guy.
Karan114 Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Achilles injury is a nasty one, probably even worse for someone at his age. If he's been cut due to the lasting impact then it's understandable. Fontaine Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Katich gone, Hussey/Ponting won't be there for the next ashes. Australia better start producing some serious players.
Cricket Tragic Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Poor decision but it isn't really a shock. When he got injured in the Ashes, there was plenty of talk that he might have played his last test for Australia.
ViruRulez Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Australia is turning into a mediocre team more faster than anyone would have expected. I am not sure their dumping of senior players are working out well. They need to make their backups world class before they dump their experienced players. In this case, I like the way our board has been doing. Giving chances to the juniors in leftover tours or as backups in injury and making them ready for the international level makes more sense then suddenly dumping seniors all of a sudden and replacing with domestic players.
The Realist Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Poor decision. Katich has been one of the few performers in the Aus team in the last few years yet is dropped while complete non-performers like Cameron White, Steve Smith & David Hussey are gifted contracts. Obviously there are politics going on in the background.
Malcolm Merlyn Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 CA guys are spending too much time with their Pakistani counter parts.... Hilditch is @@3##$$% Happy for Cummins though.
Sir_Afridi Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Mike Hussey got a contract after 10 years and scoring million runs in domestic cricket. Cummins has 9 wickets in 3 FC games at almost 50 average and already have a contract. :WTF:
Cricketics Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Very poor decision from Acb selectors. Especially keeping in mind, he has performed well against INdia, and Australia are to play India soon later this year in their summer. Surely, the squad suggests that he won't be back for a while.
Sir_Afridi Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Katich can still be selected in the test team. Khawaja & Smith played for Aus in test last year without having contract.
ensd2 Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Poor guy Katich ...only aussie's consistant batsman ( with watson ) there is some dirty politic behind this decision
Sir_Afridi Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Katich :(( http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=1;filter=advanced;orderby=runs;qualmin1=1000;qualval1=runs;spanmax1=08+Jun+2011;spanmin1=08+Jun+2008;spanval1=span;template=results;type=batting
Midfielder Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 I rather have a broken foot than achilles. They take all sorts of time to heal.
IBA ADMAN Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Seven Changes To Australia Contracted Player List Cricket Australia have made seven changes to their contracted list of 25 players for the 2011-12 season with Patrick Cummins and James Pattinson awarded contracts for the first time. Five other players - Xavier Doherty, John Hastings, David Hussey, Usman Khawaja and Jason Krejza ended the 2010-11 season as contracted players after they made enough appearances to qualify MORE INFO HERE
CoverDrive Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Mike Hussey got a contract after 10 years and scoring million runs in domestic cricket. Cummins has 9 wickets in 3 FC games at almost 50 average and already have a contract. :WTF: Totally agree
saneindian Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 In the last 3-4 years, he's the only Aussie batsman to have been consistent. What a way to reward the hard work for the national side. The only possible reason is they do not want too many 35 year olds in the team. And preferred the two others, Punter and Hussey over Katich.
