But that's the contradiction' date=' Olympics was a platform for only amateur sports enthusiastic, but hijacked for other reasons over the last 40 years or so. It should have never been a platform for the pinnacle of any sport.[/quote'] things evolve. i would rather watch the best compete than stick to the "amateur" concept.

t20 would be great for olympics. it would generate lot of interest and wealth.
but it is not cricket, what will the purists watch? :nervous:

I have thought about this and it just doesnt make any sense, most of the teams will be super busy during the summer months and everyone will send their B team(maybe worse) for the olympics, there is also no money involved and i doubt the boards and players will be that interested.

anyone who really thinks that BCCI's influence in the ICC is limited to just that 1 vote is living in delusions.
OFF TOPIC Right on! If ICC really wanted to call all the shots and not let BCCI control most of the ongoing things then they should have done a better job spreading the game around Europe because then most likely they would have had more supports (+ votes). BCCI involves 4 test nations (the highest test playing nations at the moment for a board - hence the reason Bangladesh was not kicked out of test arena like Zimbabew). Back to topic I personaly would love to see cricket in olympic sports. Heck it's better then watching CURLING (god i can't believe that it's even a sport :cantstop:)

We all do, and there is a platform for that, the Cricket Wold Cups (T20s & ODIs)!!, what's the point of having a third global cricket tournament, it will just demean the value of winning the World Cup. If they go ahead, I hope it follows the line of Olympics Football, only Under 23 years old in the squad. Hence FIFA protecting the prestige of the World Cup.

Hope cricket T20 gets into Olympics. That will be a great addition.
Are you the same Rajmarie from SLC? If so uncharacteristically dumb post. Wjhats so speacial about cricket in olympics? It'll suck more money out of indian market

Olympic events should always be the pinnacle of that sport. This is the problem with sports like football and tennis in the Olympics and will be the same with cricket.
What a load of crap! Olympics is for gymnastics, athletics and swimming etc. olympics bigger than grand slam in tennis? bigger than NBA in basketball? bigger than world cup or champions league in football? don't think so!

Yup for the IOC. No thanks. Would prefer for the money to stay within India benefiting Indian cricket.

waste of time, IOC have got a whiff of the ad money trail hence...all the commotion. Some greashead must have come up with numbers and got the Jacque Rogge's mouth watering. IOC is a master at attracting huge Global Sponsors, hence I can't see ICC getting involved without getting a slice of the ad revenue due to Indian market. Much like how the swimming and athletic events are catered purely for the US audience in terms of advertisements and scheduling times. The very meaning of Olympics has lost it's meaning in to capitalism and nationalistic jingoism, there are no amateur participants in the Olympics anymore.
Right on the money! :hatsoff::hatsoff::hatsoff::hatsoff::hatsoff: To IOC: :finger::finger::finger::finger::finger:

Its never going to be the case for cricket, just as it isn't for football or tennis.
