gaurav92 Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 I repeat again, I hate Bhajji as a premier spinner and not as a Cricketer in general. If he can't pick up wickets, he shouldn't be called the premier spinner of the side. He looks to contain more than taking wickets, and this is surely not the role of a premier spinner. So all I want to say is that Bhajji is not our premier spinner and should therefore not take his place for granted in ODIs Phew, he did bowl well today and backed it up with a match winning knock of 41. He certainly has saved us with his later order bursts on numerous occasions, but his bowling has a lot to think about. these knocks are not going to come every single match, so he needs to bowl well to be a regular member in the side as his main job is bowling and not batting. And now don't say that I am a Bhajji hater, I loved the way Bhajji batted and guided our side to a great victory. And I doff my hats to his all round performance, but I think you all will agree to this that He needs to improve his bowling a little more and be a little more attacking in his line, he must go over the wicket and toss it up more rather than bowling on the pads coming around the wicket.
King Tendulkar Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Phew' date=' he did bowl well today and backed it up with a match winning knock of 41. .[/quote'] So you admit he bowled well yesterday and must also admit he bowled well in 1st odi(3 wickets). So why the hell are you calling for his head when recent form is good??:((
gaurav92 Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 So you admit he bowled well yesterday and must also admit he bowled well in 1st odi(3 wickets). So why the hell are you calling for his head when recent form is good??:(( See KT, form is not about just 2 ODIs, he has bowled well alright, but his performance in the World Cup and in the previous series hasn't been all that great TBH. And again, I think he can always prove me wrong and I would love to be proved wrong. I am not a bigot who would go about spewing venom at him everytime he fails and hide my face in the dark when he does well. I will openly accept that I have been proven wrong by him and he is bowling well consistently. I will post on this very thread that "He is our premier spin bowler in ODIS" once he picks up the rhythm that he once used to have. I am a big fan of Bhajji and thats why I criticize him coz I know he can be much better than what he is , right now. He will definitely step up and show why is he called the Turbanator :proud: I have full faith in him, but its just about time and I can't undermine Ashwin's capabilities in the shorter formats. I mean, I am stuck between the two ,and the only thing that makes me stick to my opinion is Harbhajan's Wickets column in ODIs in the recent past.
Midfielder Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 To win a ODI game you make sure you have more runs than the opposite team. He makes sure of that. With 50 over games he has evolved into stingy, economical bowler. If you give more flight in one day game it gives a batsman more time to react to it and couple of boundaries later the team is in a hole. I would be the last one to critisize him. End of the day he comes through and has seldom lost games for India.
Tiger80 Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Ashwin 10-1-39-1 I am surprised how he is unable to take 3-4 wickets today as portrayed by Bhajji haters
Cricketics Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Today after long time, Gavaskar made some sense. He said "Everyone will forget how well Harbhajan bowled in last few games. He actually get just 24 runs in 10 overs. Put the pressure from the other end while Mishra was getting rewarded from other end. He actually bowled terrificly and kept adding pressure on the windie bats."
CSK Fan Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 Ashwin 10-1-39-1 I am surprised how he is unable to take 3-4 wickets today as portrayed by Bhajji haters the pitch did not have as much spin as the previous pitches. Observe how even Mishra couldnt do much. And again comparing Ashwin to Bhajji is like comparing Kohli to Sachin, they have different standards
achilles Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 Hey hey watch it Ashwin haters. What if he picked up just 1 wicket? He won wissil podu the IPL. He deserves to be in the team. It doesn't mean zilch if the man he replaces has won us games single-handedly for the past 8 yrs and delivered with bat and ball when the need has been.
achilles Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 world cup spinners performance in Indian conditions (excluding SL and Bangladesh as they helped spinners more). Ashwin is below Harbhajan on the list? Disgrace. Jhuth hai yeh. Haaai Haai :hitler:
jonas10 Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Ashwin is below Harbhajan on the list? Disgrace. Jhuth hai yeh. Haaai Haai :hitler: How many games did each of them play? Nice to see Ashwin preformed better on a per game basis.
Midfielder Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Way Ashwin supporters made me belive he was going to get 10 wkts and score 100 runs. Came close. He is good but quit this crap about replacing a proven established match winner.
ganeshran Posted June 15, 2011 Author Posted June 15, 2011 Ashwin is below Harbhajan on the list? Disgrace. Jhuth hai yeh. Haaai Haai :hitler: Ashwin only played 2 games while Bhajji played 8.
King Tendulkar Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Ashwin is below Harbhajan on the list? Disgrace. Jhuth hai yeh. Haaai Haai :hitler: :giggle:
phaedrus Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Ashwin is below Harbhajan on the list? Disgrace. Jhuth hai yeh. Haaai Haai :hitler: Bhajji's average is worse than Chawla. Disgrace and all that. :insert emoticons here:
say2chander Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Ashwin is a good bowler but if you see, he only gets wickets when some body attacks him. Like in powerplay. There are no powerplay in Test cricket. Also in ODIs, teams can play him out for 40-45 and attack others. Though Aswhin is priceless in T20
Cricketics Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Okay, I don't feel like rubbing it in or anything but seriously I would love to see the reactions of all of those who were being anti-bhajji. I know Ashwin deserve some chances, but you can't excluse Harbhajan from the team from a crucial game. He is simply our best spinner. Yes..
punjabi_khota Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 10-1-50-0 Today :hmmmm2: Ashwin the great wicket taking match winning hope finishes the series with 20-2-103-1
punjabi_khota Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Safe to say OP and others have been pwned like a Paki.
yoda Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Bhajji's real threat is from Mishra now and the variety factor doesn't help either.
