He certainly bowled much better than him and picked more wickets than him and Yuvraj is not even a specialist bowler.
Yuvi took more wickets that does not mean that he was the better bowler because Bhajji was the one who put pressure on the batsmen.

Yes agreed. But that is not the only job of a premier spinner. Is it? This post clearly shows that he is not at his best. And Yuvraj, even though he is a part timer, looked far more effective than Bhajji.

He did not get wickets but he put the brakes on the opposition many a time and put pressure on them.
But he was supposed to be the main strike bowler and not a part timer. There are others whose job is to contain the batsmen. Also the best way to stop runs is to take wickets.

i guess the reason Bhajji divides opinion to such an extent is because of his inconsistency. As almost every commentator points out(its Shastri's favourite line every time bhajji starts his spell) he is a different bowler when he gets a wicket early. He can look like a club level bowler in one match and the world's best in the other. He is a confidence bowler and its the inconsistency that makes people forget his good/great spells(mainly its because its sandwiched between many crappy ones). its frustrating to see that he hasnt been able to work on his consistency for so many years.

You hit the nail..He is pretty inconsistent for an experienced bowler..In one match he'll go wicketless and in another he'll take wickets..I think we are expecting too much from him. He's not the same bowler which he was earlier. We see other bowlers bringing more skill sets and variations in their bowling (mostly the mixing of various deliveries and wrong ones) and expect the same from Bhajji. While bajji too does lot's of experimentations in his bowling but it's mainly confined to changing the line of his bowling..He can't bowl a wrong one. At the most he can bowl a straight one. Sice he can't bowl a wrong one, he is forced to change his line by going round the wicket to a right hand batsman and keep him guessing which one is a straight one or a off spin one which sometimes pitches on leg and beats the wicketkeeper. The ball he bowled to Umar Akmal in WC Semifinal is the classic example. The ball went straight and bowled Umar. In the last match he started his (now news bowling line) round the wicket bowling but went for runs and also gave 5 wides..Then he switched to over the wicket and started flighting the ball (hence he pulled back the scoring rate whch KT claims that Bhajji pulled back). That's exactly what we are at pains to say about Bhajji. He has the capabilities of bowling conventional off spin with more flight and goes for less runs. But because of his preconcieved notion of bowling that pathetic round the wicket leg stump line..many of us don't like his approach and really long for a bowler who has a different and more exciting skill set like Ashwin.. It's our eagerness to watch another off spinner with completely different skill sets and who is readily available but doesn't gets chances often since another off spinner is already in the team. I mean it'll be stupid to play 2 off-spinners in the team when you have a good leg spinner too at your disposal.. So, without offeneding the Bhajji fanboys, we actually pray and hope that Ashwin somehow gets chance to play so that we can see a different skillset bowler and that opportunity has been continuously denied just because you have more senior off spinner in the team whose skill sets are pretty limited presently and has been reduced to changing his line of bowling and doesn't brings anything novel on top of that.. We are stuck basically..Just hoping that the Bhajji dream (or nightmare whatever way you take it) is over ASAP, atleast in limited overs matches..unless Bhajji brings some novelty in his current bowling..

I dont think people who knowcricket share this opinion.

When Indian batsmen score runs in India, pitches are flat. When Indian spinners take wickets in India, pitches are spin friendly. :hmmm:
So ,true :)
