But I swear we have atleast found 2 young guns if given opportunity will prove us right. 1. Virat Kohli 2. Rohit Sharma One is pure temperament and the other is pure talent. Here is my test pecking order 3 years down the line as far as batting is concerned. 1.Shewag 2.Gambhir 3.Kohli 4.God (cannot be replaced) 5.RG Sharma 6.Dhoni 7.Yuvi/Raina/Pujara It scares me to think what will happen when SRT decides to retire. But we have to face it one day or other. The young lads might not perform right away, but surely they will learn being around with Shewag, Gambhir & SRT. To be honest I have given up on BADrinath and Murali Vijay. They just wont make the cut! Share your opinion.

We don't need to worry about finding a new Tendulkar or Dravid or anyone. The game evolves and we'll find quality batsmen to fill-in and keep the order strong. What about Ajinkya Rahane? We were lucky to see SRT, Dravid, Laxman and Sehwag play together for so long. Gambhir is 29 so should have some good years in front of him. That guy might not be technically the greatest but he will grind out the runs in even the toughest conditions in Tests.

I'd go with the same 4 as the next bunch to look out for. I'm also keen to see how Mukund goes as a test opener. I watched him play school cricket 5-6 years back. If he does well and can kick VJ out, he will be my hero for life.

Also, I will have either Mukund or Murali Vijay as the opener as Vijay has performed reasonably well in Tests and deserves a chance. So my Test batting lineup... Gambhir Mukund/Vijay Rahane Kohli (should bat at 4 as he's the most solid batsman of the lot) Pujara Sharma KKD (wk) - if Dhoni's not around
saneindian Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 How I wish we could somehow find one left handed middle order batsman for test matches. Would make our top 6 quite good with 2 left handers (Gambhir and the XYZ) and 4 right handers (Sehwag+ 3 out of Kohli/Rohit/Pujara/Rahane). Despite their test struggles, IMO Raina/Yuvraj will have their huge chance to shore up the technical aspect of their test match batting and grab that middle order spot. Do they have the willingness and temprament? Only time will tell. Another name I can think of is Parthiv Patel. A gutsy cricketer who thrives on challeneges. His keeping may not be upto the scratch, but it would be intersting to see how well he does if he starts playing purely as a batsman for his Ranji and Zonal side.

The No.3 to 7 is pretty solid. Rohit Kohli Dinesh Karthik (if Dhoni skips a series- yes I do believe he has it in him to make a strong comeback). Yuvraj (Yes he will do well in the future me thinks). Vijay I hope does not turn out to be FTB and hope he does grab his chance when he gets it. For the more immediate future, itd be ideal i think if Sehwag were to bat at 5. I think his eyes and reflexes are fading now and vs a good pace bowler he might come a cropper. For me, in Eng this summer one of Vijay or Mukund (whoever does better in WI) opens with GG Gambhir Mukund/Vijay Laxman Tendulkar Sehwag Pujara Solid.
King Tendulkar Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Why is everyone mentioning Rohit??? I was told he was fat, lazy, bad attitude, play rubbish shots, IPL bully, mentally weak etc etc. Now everyone seems to think he is future test middle order for India.:--D
