King Tendulkar Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 This is my team based on squad selctors have given me. 1 Vijay 2 Patel 3 Dravid 4 Laxman 5 Kohli 6 Raina 7 Dhoni 8 Bhaji 9 Kumar 10 Ishant 11 Munaf Would love to have had Rohit to choose from and put at 6. Patel should open as looked good in odis and didi not get big scores and tried to up tempo, but in tests he will just keep it ticking along and has technique to do well.
rkt.india Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 I would have Mithun instead of PK..i have no confidence in him as a test bowler...when i see him thrashed in ODIs with the old ball...Mithun can at least bowl long spells has variety and a bit more pace than PK...Mithun even troubled good SL batsmen on slow and low SL pitches. Here WI batsmen are not as good and Sabine Park and Barbados pitches will have something for fast bowlers...
DomainK Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 That team looks pretty good to me for the job. Wonderful opportunity for Dravid to hit some form.
saneindian Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 KT, Kohli should be at 4 between RD and VVS making the batting line up as Vijay, Parthiv, RD, Kohli, VVS, Raina, MSD. And even on a bouncy Sabina Park pitch, picking Mishra is a must. Also, reading some reports, looks like Munaf is not fit for 1st test. So in all likelihood Bhajji, Mishra, Ishant and Mithun is going to be our bowling up for the 1st test.
Karan114 Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 I think it'll be Vijay Parthiv Dravid Laxman Kohli Raina Dhoni Bhajji Mishra Kumar Ishant Like saneindian, I'd have Kohli at 4 to split up Dravid and VVS but apparently VVS has said he wants to bat higher. Also agree that Mishra has to play this series, even if Sabina Park is fast bowler friendly. I think Kumar will come in for the injured Munaf. Vijay apparently got hit on his hand in the nets as well. If by any chance he's injured come Monday then Mukund steps in his place.
rkt.india Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Mithun is awful He is still better bet on WI pitches instead of PK who will bowl at Dada's pace in tests...
jaggadaku Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 I'll pick a regular opener instead of dropthiv he is only good at scoring 20's and 30's with his flashy shots

You cant have 2 keepers in the team.Patel gets out for 40-50s.so better to try out mukund who has a very high conversion rate (9 50s,13 100's).LET HIM PLAy.
deepak_sach Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Mithun was a fast bowler initially. He became fast medium after the first season. He became medium fast after bowling for India. he became medium under Venkatesh Prasad as coach. So now is he going to bowl spin???? Varun Aaron is 1000 times better than this trundler.
Sidhoni Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 My 11 would be :- Mukund VJ RD Kohli Laxman Badri/Raina Dhoni Bhajji Mishra PK Ishant

Cricket Tragic Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 I'd pick Mukund. Dropthiv is not a specialist opener and will squander a start again. If Mukund fails, we can play Dropthiv.
BERGKAMP Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 PLEASE NO PARTHIV! He will get 5 in the first innings, 16 in the second and drop 3 catches and miss 2 stumpings.
Cricket Tragic Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 PLEASE NO PARTHIV! He will get 5 in the first innings, 16 in the second and drop 3 catches and miss 2 stumpings. Why would he keep when Dhoni is in the team?
BERGKAMP Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Why would he keep when Dhoni is in the team? Oops brain freeze, still even more reason not to pick him, no way on earth is he a test opener. I will cry if he is picked.
Pagalpanti Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 I hope Parthiv wont be picked until 3rd test i.e if India have already sealed the series and Dhoni decides to bring in bench players. Mukund is the way to go, he is an excellent opener for TN, I hope he does well. Rest of the batting lineup pretty much picks itself. Would be gutted if I see Raina picked over Kohli and Badrinath. Mukund Vijay Dravid VVS Kohli Badrinath Dhoni* Harbhajan Mishra Ishant Munaf (If not fit then PK)
Sir john Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 vijay dravid laxman kohli raina dhoni harbhajan mishra munaf ishant praveen
cowboysfan Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 this match will probably not see the 5th day (fragile batting on both sides).Fletcher will be tempted to go with 3 pacers.I am hoping for a taylor like dream spell from Ishant.
