Cricket Tragic Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 The BCCI has awarded Kolkata three matches during India's home series against England and West Indies between October and December 2011. Eden Gardens will host a Twenty20 and an ODI against England as well as a Test against West Indies, the board announced after a meeting of its tour, programme and fixtures committee in Mumbai. The news is a boost for the Cricket Association of Bengal, which was stripped of the marquee India-England fixture during the 2011 World Cup because Eden Gardens was not ready by the stipulated deadline. Kolkata eventually hosted three other World Cup games - Ireland v Holland, South Africa v Ireland and Zimbabwe v Kenya. England are touring India to play five ODIs and one Twenty20. The other four one-dayers will be played in Mumbai, Mohali, Hyderabad and Delhi. Mumbai and Delhi are the venues for the remaining two Tests against West Indies.
Cricket Tragic Posted June 18, 2011 Author Posted June 18, 2011 Good decision from the BCCI to have the tests in the major centres. No more of Nagpur, A'bad and Mohali please.
cowboysfan Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Windies are looking at 3-0 with those venues for tests.
EnterTheVoid Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Will it be ODI than tests or the other way around? Are the dates out yet?
Switchblade Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Man the Kotla pitch has been poor IMO hope there is little bit of improvement . Enjoyed watching India vs Oz day 2 and 3 at Kotla in 2k8 was a treat to watch VVS,HUSSEY AND RICKY bat.
AbhishekS Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 One out of the many ODIs will be held in Mumbai too. Will surely be booking the tickets for the match. :D
Cricket Tragic Posted June 18, 2011 Author Posted June 18, 2011 +1. In fact even scrap em for future tests. Disgrace of a venue with no spectator turnout. Host em in big centres like Eden and Chennai. They should just have fixed test venues. You can have ODIs anywhere in the country and have fill the grounds.
Sir_Afridi Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 10 ODIs between India & Eng in 2 months. :cantstop:
Pagalpanti Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 The England, WI ODI series would be boring and fully one sided unless India decide to play their B-team again. But India vs Eng @ Eng would be a close one, we've always struggled in ODI's there.
