Sir_Afridi Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Islamabad, June 18: Pakistan’s Chief Selector Mohsin Khan has said that he has been working upon the formation of a ‘separate specialised team’ for the Twenty20 format of cricket. "I want 70-80% of the Twenty20 squad for next year’s World Cup to be made up of twenty over specialists," **********.net quoted Mohsin, as saying. "I''ve always been keen on having a "separate team" for the Twenty over format and that is something that we have been working upon and will continue to do so as the build up towards the World Cup carries on," he added. The chief selector revealed that he would not just be casting a watchful eye over players in the upcoming domestic tournament to find some “hidden gemsâ€, but would also be monitoring the performances of Pakistani players in County cricket. "The boys that are playing in the Friends Life Twenty20 competition in England are very lucky. They are playing in a competition with a high standard of cricket and my fellow selectors and I will be keeping a very close eye on their performances. It''s good for Pakistan cricket that we have a number of our players playing County cricket this year," he said. Apart from the generally accepted criteria of good match performances, Mohsin, unlike many of his predecessors, singled out fielding standards as a major factor in selection of future squads especially in the twenty-over format. "The emphasis on fielding has never been greater. The players all know the importance of fielding standards and fitness levels. Those boys that are good in the field definitely have an advantage when it comes to selection," he maintained. http://www.dailyindia.com/show/446053.php
urbestfriend Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Good for you dude..Thats the only ICC tournament you can hope to win , but you have to cross the hurdles posed by India.
One&only Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 They should make a PCB T20 specialist board as well, Afridi can be chairman as he's retired
Cricket Tragic Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011  No wonder they suck in tests. They've got important tests end of this year/early next year and they're worried about a T20 tournament.

ganeshran Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 pakistanis claim to be natural T20 players - too bad they suck at that format too :giggle:

I reiterate, this is in a league where Chaminda Vaas opens the batting for one of County sides in Friends Life T20 Cup. If that's high standard, then Pak cricket is f u c ked.

jairamesh Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 What worse? Vaas opening or Zaheer one down against Steyn :giggle: As an ICF reverse troll and undefinable idiot, you could have at least checked that Vaas is regular opener for two seasons running, and Zaheer was a one-off.

Pagalpanti Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 They are the champs in T20, no team like Pakistan can lose 8 out of last 9 matches in T20. Even if its against the West Indies :giggle:
Nash Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 This is conflicting. one side they always said they are the so called natural T20 so called aggressiveness players. n i though they are already playing T20 it does n matter it is test or ODI. they are specialist T20
jonas10 Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Pak T20 specialists probably got a mission statement of "We dont get bowled out in 10 overs anymore!" Arnt these guys making some sort of IPL rival in Dubai or something :hysterical:

Misu243 Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Pakistan ain't gonna do shyt. Winning any world cup is beyond reach for them atm. The competition is just very very tight and with the current state of PCB and Pakistan cricket...it would be very very difficult for them to form a winning team. They've been complaining that IPL is just circus and killing cricket...In fact IPL is the definition of T20 cricket. Most countries major players have participated in IPL..they carry this form and experience to their national teams. I really don't think Pakistan has the foundation to win the whole competition...maybe a game or two...
