Ultimate_Game Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 6 down for less than 100 and 3 wkts taken by Bishoo and that too on a first day pitch! I would love to hear BCCI's explanation for no practice match before the Test match on an away tour. The only batsman who was in form and looked good (Rohit Sharma) isn't even in the Test squad!
Ponka Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Reality check needs to be done before loling at the Pakis for playing Bishoo badly. India is playing Bishoo even more poorly. I dont think I saw bishoo getting 3 wickets in first 5 overs and getting a wicket on his first ball against Pakis which has just happened in the first session of first indian test!

Everyone this forum was talking about how good Bishoo is during the Pak series.
cowboysfan Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 we want to dominate every spinner we see,its lack of respect for a good bowler and that too from our seniors.
Ultimate_Game Posted June 20, 2011 Author Posted June 20, 2011 IMO it's reality check for BCCI as well since this proves IPL can't be "be all and end all" of Indian cricket. You can't have IPL as the main tourney and treat a Test series as an after-thought. Next year will be even more interesting as Pakistan tour is scheduled just days after IPL finishes. Will BCCI send a depleted squad and risk losing to Pakistan given that the series goes ahead in a neutral venue.
jusarrived Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 I dont remember a series where we have not started badly , nothing new here .
Ultimate_Game Posted June 20, 2011 Author Posted June 20, 2011 I dont remember a series where we have not started badly ' date=' nothing new here .[/quote'] All the more reason to have at least one practice match before the series, especially for the "Test only" players considering the fact that most series these days is a 2 or 3 Test series - the days of 5 Test series are gone where you could start slowly and still end up winning.

Cricket Tragic Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 We've got a practice game in England. Dhoni and Sehwag have openly said that they don't like practice games. Sehwag said that if he gets a hundred in a practice game, it means that there is less chance of getting one in the test series. So he doesn't like it. :cantstop: If the seniors really wanted it, we would have it.

Maybe for Sehwag practice match doesn't make sense and I'm ok with that but for most of the other players it is a must. Let Sehwag skip the practice game but the likes of Dravid, Laxman, Kohli etc. will be a nice help. And I hope we keep our best batsman from the odi series (if odi series precedes Tests) for the Tests and not send him back just coz the Test team was announced even before the odi series started!
