Kohli deserves more chances

Kohli might not have done well in his first three innings, but he has both the potential and the mental temperament to suceed at test match cricket. Hope the selectors dont boot him out of the England tour squad

Agreed. I am still not sold on Raina in swinging English conditions, I think Kohli would fare better. Pujara is still higher than him in the pecking order though, imo.

Who is saying Kohli will not get chances,he will get chances in future but its sad he will not make it to the squad for the English tour.3 innings are too many to miss ,when you you have so much competition for a single place.

Oh of course, the same Raina who was supposed to struggle in WI while Kohli made hay. Lets not forget, he's got us out of the **** twice already.

Kohli is just 22 - he is going to get a lot of chances in the coming years. He has the temperament to succeed at this level, but this series has exposed some problems against the short ball. He needs to iron out those flaws and I'm sure he will. But its not like non-selection for England will spell the end of his career or something.

As mentioned above, Kohli is still young and he has ways to go and he will definitely have a spot in the test team. For now, India's first choice batsmen for England test series are as follows: Sehwag Tendulkar Gambhir Rahul Dravid VVS Cheteshwar Pujara Suresh Raina

I don't understand why we have to wrap Kohli in cotton wool and treat him as if he is going to become the greatest batsman of all time. If he is not performing, why should he be in the team?

Tbh' date=' they were both expected to score in this series given the opposition.[/quote'] A lot of the people who are fans of "technically gifted" players thought Raina would get bounced out.

I agree 3 innings is nothing. Look how many consecutive innings top players have failed in the past. But He needs to score some runs to keep the selectors interested. it looks like Raina has cemented his spot ahead of Kohli and Pujara. Hes scored pretty well despite getting two really bad calls. IMO Pujara Rahane and Sharma are the major test prospect that need to be tested and deserve chances to play ahead of Kohli and Raina.

Since when did batsman start getting judged based on 3 innings. 1 day you guys make Kohli hero and Raina zero, the other day you do the opposite. Start giving players time, they won't score every match, Kohli has proven his worth, its just 1 innings he needs to get going, in ODI's too he had a rather sluggish start.

How exactly is that? I think his performances in the Test arena have made sure he is rightly ahead of all those others. As for Rohit Sharma, come back when he scores runs in his next series. The ODI series was his first good one in over 3 years.
