Cricketics Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 21st century has seen some amazing things take place. The ability to predict that sehwag will be ready by the start of 2nd test or 3rd test, but won't be ready by 21st july when first test takes place, is absolutely amazing. Doctors, even though are considered gods by some folks, have been taken over by INdian Selectors. They can predict everything. Real Gods.
desi pride 1234 Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Mukund better work on his front foot game otherwise he will be Anderson's *****. Any news on how many tests Sehwag will miss? he will miss the first test match
saneindian Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Wonder on what basis PaPa has been dropped. He did fairly well in the ODIs and hasnt played a test on the tour! Now that Vijay has been dropped should he play the next test? Wouldn't it have been better to pick PaPa who is already with the squad in WI and ask him to open with Mukund in the next test?
Cricket Tragic Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 he will miss the first test match That's not too bad. Good news!
Sid Posted July 2, 2011 Author Posted July 2, 2011 Acc. to news channel,Veeru will miss only the 1st test.

SachDan Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 How many openers we need? Already Mukund there. That said, big disappointing to see Parthiv Patel, even though after being picked for Windies squad, not playing any tests yet, gets dropped for the next overseas tour squad. Absolute shambles. Never understand this type of selection. With Sehwag due to miss the first couple of tests, we don't even have a reserve opener..but that's not the main point, what has Saha done to be selected ahead of Parthiv. I'm aghast! Hope there is no repeat of Nagpur at Lords :D
Karan114 Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Saha selection is a joke - why even pick Parthiv for the Test squad to WI if you are going to dump him without a chance?
saneindian Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 r u satisfied with his keeping skills??. too bad.. he dropped almost 3 catches in the 5th ODI i guess.. we don't need a akmal in our team :P keeping gloves to remain with Dhoni :--D PaPa as the specialist opener!

I'm aghast! Hope there is no repeat of Nagpur at Lords :D I am no one one to Judge Sahaz selection really. He is perhaps definately one of the better wicket keeper bats in India than many in domestic cricket rite now. But you gotta feel for someone like Parthiv. I mean, the guy gets picked in test squad, and doesn't get a game, and gets dropped for next tour. So selectors basically are saying that Saha is more suited for British conditions more than Parthiv.
Sid Posted July 2, 2011 Author Posted July 2, 2011 I guess many of you are justifying Patel's place in the side as more of a reserve opener, then a backup keeper. If you guys havent forgotten we needed a BACKUP KEEPER not a backup opener. And Patel most certainly isnt a keeper. So I am not that disappointed with his non-selecction.
Mystique_Myth Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 keeping gloves to remain with Dhoni :--D PaPa as the specialist opener! we need to groom a secondary wicket keeper somehow.. datz y saha is getting selected as a secondary specialist wicket keeper actually :P
BeautifulGame Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Can understand the logic behind selecting Saha ahead of Parthiv tbh.We are going to England were its very hard for keepers so it makes sense to take our best wkt keeper rather than Parthiv who is still unconvincing IMO.Also i dont think there is much btw them in batting particularly coming at 7. Parthiv is definitely a better opener but i dont think he is that much a better Saha as better batsman. Pleasantly surprised Mukund is chosen ahead of Vijay.Thought Vijay might get the nod purely because of experience good to see trusting a rookie. Finally good luck Yuvi.Crucial phase in his career.
deepak_sach Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Sehwag will miss first 2 weeks of tour... That includes warm up and first test... -Cricinfo
saneindian Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 ^ PaPa gives you both the options, reserve opener and a decent enough keeper. Imagine Saha walking out with Gauti to open at Lord's :((
deepak_sach Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 People will say biased selection by Chikka Just one Tamil Nadu player.....
