luv_cricket Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 Yes, the pitch was a sporting wicket where there was help for seamers throughout and also if spinners gave a bit loop there was bounce for them to extract as well. All in all, a very good pitch for test match cricket. Also, Dhoni's sporting declaration made way for an interesting contest in the end, if not for fading light would have been a nail biter for us.

It should take turn only from the 3rd or 4th day and not from the start because the pitch will then deteriorate and become unplayable very soon. I think Sydney is a very good test match wicket.

I agree- not tilted towards batsmen but if someone had talent & applied themselves like VVS & RD then they could score big

These application of constrained rules to Test matches (bad light, lengthy pitch inspection, fixed time for lunch and tea breaks, not using floodlights) certainly brings the crowd to the grounds. The umpires need more power to use common sense. Cricket is played for spectators.

These days cricket boards asked or lets say force the grounds man to prepare a dead wicket so that the match can last 5 days..& the home board & TV broadcaster are happy. I dont understand how both entity can be happy...when TV broadcasters r broadcasting it to almost nil viewers like enpty stadium....or home board....unless they r interested in money only.

True, it's undisputed that groundman are under pressure to prepare a pitch to provide 5 days of cricket. Barbados was a sporting pitch, but TV broadcasters were holding their breadth. If not for rain, this match could have finished again within 4 days like the Kingston one. That would have been broadcaster loosing 2 days of Ad revenue out 10 days. The next one is sure as hell going to be a road.
