Rahul Dravid Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Just another flat track bully like Mahela Jayawardene hmm... its funny how u can compare a man whos just come in with one of the greats of the game. sure mahela isnt as gud at Sanga in tough wickets, but he is PURE CLASS.
Cricket Tragic Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 jairamesh, Did you see how he played the short ball? Even Raina would be embarrassed by that.

Crookbond Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Chandimal and Herath dropped http://www.espncricinfo.com/sri-lanka-v-australia-2011/content/current/story/528028.html Sri Lanka have dropped promising batsman Dinesh Chandimal, allrounder Thisara Perera and left-arm spinner Rangana Herath from the squad for the final two one-dayers against Australia, who lead the series 2-1. Seekkuge Prasanna, the 26-year-old legspinner, has been called up and has to fly back from England, where he was representing Sri Lanka A. The other major news was that vice-captain Angelo Mathews, who missed the third ODI due to an injury is fit for the remaining matches. "He should be alright for the rest of the series," Sri Lankan captain Tillakaratne Dilshan said. "He could have even played on Tuesday, but we didn't want to take a risk. If something had happened he would have been ruled out for two months. He has got three more days to recover from the injury. Angelo is a key member of our side and when he goes out it's a big loss." Chandimal, 21, had made an unbeaten century at Lord's and 54 in the deciding game of the ODI series against England last month, but suffered a string of failures since, managing only 41 in four innings. Perera played only one ODI since his hard-hitting cameo in the World Cup final, with the role of the third fast bowler to be filled by either Mathews, Suranga Lakmal or Shaminda Eranga, who made an impact on debut in the third ODI on Tuesday. Herath has also had only one ODI since the World Cup, with the emergence of legspinning allrounder Jeevan Mendis and the spin pair of Ajantha Mendis and Suraj Randiv limiting his opportunities. Herath's place in the squad was taken by Prasanna, who hit the headlines on Sunday with a six-wicket haul against England A. Prasanna plays for the Sri Lanka Army, impressing in their youth ranks before making his domestic one-day debut in 2006. He built up an outstanding List A record over the past five years, taking 73 wickets at 18.38 in 45 matches. Squad: Tillakaratne Dilshan (capt), Angelo Mathews (vice-capt), Upul Tharanga, Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara (wk), Chamara Silva, Nuwan Kulasekera, Lasith Malinga, Shaminda Eranga, Seekkuge Prasanna, Ajantha Mendis, Jeevan Mendis, Suranga Lakmal, Suraj Randiv I think this move is more tactical than to do with performance.
Ultimate_Game Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Chandimal dropped. Shows that SL selectors are no different from ours :haha: To me Chandimal looked way more talented than Kapugaderas and Chamara Silvas. He should have been given a longer reign in the national side.
Square Drive Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 ^ With the half century in the last ODI Silviya secured his place for another 2 years.. :((

tothepoint Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Dinesh Chandimal - Has impressive first-class average and strike-rate. Already performed well in India, England, South Africa and now Australia. Quality player, can be the next big thing. Up there with Bravo and Kohli. http://www.espncricinfo.com/commonwealth-bank-series-2012/content/current/player/300628.html Decent keeper as well. Your thoughts ICF'ers? PS : Hope there is a thread on Bravo.
chainsmoker1985 Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Fuddu player..... Bat thrower, ugly technique. I am seriously not impressed :headshake:
tothepoint Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Fuddu player..... Bat thrower' date=' ugly technique. I am seriously not impressed :headshake:[/quote'] :haha: me too. He Lankan, I sleep. Damn me,shouldnt have created this thread. But this lad has got good temperament and his shot selection is ok. Plus being a Lankan, mostly playing on those pattas, starting so young, would eventually end up with 10k+.
SachDan Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 I'm very impressed with this guy..great talent and definitely one for the future.
CoverDrive Posted February 14, 2012 Author Posted February 14, 2012 SL got saved with Matthews and Chandimal coming in the team. They had serious bad backup to Mahela and Sangakkara with people like Kapugedra and Chamara Silva now atleast there is hope for future

NO no no, you can never be so sure about these things in cricket that he is young and can make 10k+ runs or take 500+ wickets. We have had so many examples, even from India, we have Irfan Pathan, Parthiv Patel and then there was Ajantha Mendis and many others in world cricket who came as a burst at a young age but faded away
daryl1985 Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Superb prospect. Looked really good today (didn't see all his innings).
