India can't be consider as Number 1 .......

If England beat India 3-1 and become supposed world number ones, I as an England fan will not consider us the true number ones until we have at least played India and South Afrika in their countries and at least got draws. Ranking should not be just about being great at home and against the minnows like Austrailia:haha:
I've personally always thought the best way to prove yourself no.1 is to beat the current no.1 at their home. Any team that overcomes the crowd, tailored pitch and climate of a no.1 country deserves to be considered better. Of course, thats only if the no.1 team are at full strength, which India currently aren't England beating understrength India in England is good, but not exactly worthy of the top spot England beating full strength India in India would be far more impressive :hatsoff:

Watch the next match or are you going to claim that you sent your worst side?

Nah, we are down two players from full strength, Sehwag and Zak. Btw I was laughing at England beating a full strength India in India. :haha::haha:

India 2011 lot weaker than India 2007 Lets face it this India team is a lot weaker than the one that toured in 07 Major Changes Loss of Ganguly and Kumble These are two world class players. Impossible to replace. Dada was class player and person to have in dressing room. Kumble was excellent in English conditions v tight. Bhaji is crap make no mistake. Loss of Zak Is it any surprise India lost? I think they are number 1 not because they have improved its because other teams - Aus have become so much worse now!! India still not won in Oz/Sa for ages. England have. So is today any suprise? To me it isnt.

All the big talkers - please talk to Graeme Smith and Sangakarra - they have few stories to tell. Enjoy this win, until the normalcy is restored in coming weeks.

Now our number one ranking doesn't mean anything either  Look, it is a bad defeat and its hurting, our preparation was pathetic (BCCI's fault) and we paid the consequences, the injury to Gambhir/viral infection for Sachin was plain bad luck, but no need to start undermining the sterling work we have done over the last 3 years.

Give it up' date=' move on. :haha::haha::haha::haha:[/quote'] I know that the truth hurts. Don't be so hard on yourself now. India will not be a minnow until VVS and Dravid retire. As for the selfish one , he always chokes under pressure, so it doesn't really matter if you have him on the team or not. :hysterical::hysterical:

It is unfair to state that we dont deserve to be #1, as we have won our fair share of games to be where we are. However it is fair criticism that we dont play like a #1 team. That is true, you cannot deny that. We have the below problems, IMO: 1) We are too dependent on one or two players. ZK in bowling & to some degree Sehwag in batting. We are a different team with these two fit and firing. 2) At least 2-3 passengers per test match. Bhajji is permanently on the passenger list and we have an unestablished #6 batsman. And one of the pacers will surely be a liability each game. 3) Shockingly weak tail - Great test teams have a good tail, one that offers considerable resistance. Even WI bowlers dismissed our last five batsmen for next to nothing. We'll prolly lose our #1 ranking sometime this year to England, the later it happens the better.

Our tails have been doing really well. Gone are days when teams used to just get past 4th wicket and we would fold in no time. These days our tailenders standup and fight. Remember Bhajji saved us against Newzealand. Ishant played a gritty knock with Laxman in that epic test match. Even last time around in England we fought hard with our tail, Kumble scoring 100 etc. Even Zaheer has chipped in useful knocks.. sorry sir I disagree there, its one of the strong reasons we are number 1. we have strong tail who can fight.

Sorry sir I disagree. Bumper is absolutely correct. From No. 7 (yes dhoni) on India's tail begins and outside India they wouldn't make 50 runs in total. That is not a strong tail. Let us please not bring up harby's 50 against sammy and co that totally dilutes the conversation. DHoni won't make more than 100 runs in the entire series here.

Its ironic that an Inidan team would have trouble finding a good frontline spinner Strangely, the last time I can remember Bhajj being effective was in the last test series here Do what we did, invite a spinner over and introduce him to a girl
