However, cutting sporting ties because of disagreeable acts by a nation (or its citizens) has a very long precedent and not limited to cricket alone, and it has been done regardless of whether the cricketers were personally responsible for it. My stance is, that any tournament which is not organized/funded by the official sporting body can be restrictive in its participation and it is entirely the prerogative of the owners to decide who gets in and who doesnt.

We have trade relations with Pakistan. They save quite a few rupees from trading with us. They have MFN status on many goods. They get stuff cheaper from us than they would from other places. We buy stuff from them that many a times is substandard ( hence cheap) and hurts our local manufacturers. If we continue trading with them, and stop playing cricket citing terrorism as an excuse, it is us who look bad. That is double standard.

But there is some semblance of consistency there. We on the other hand host Pakistani political dignitaries and then cite reasons as terrorism for not playing cricket with them. I mean a government of a country should have a better response to terrorism than banning some minnow cricket team. Bomb the terror camps in PoK/ Abottabad if you must, but don't act as if arm twisting the IPL bosses into snubbing a cricket team is a major act of patriotism. It is not. Its just stupidity. Never seen a more dichotomous approach. Sorry for the digression.

Actually, England boycotting Zimbabwe is ludicrous given the fact that no act of Zimbabwe affected England directly and what was happening there was an internal matter (of Zimbabwe) even though it was shameful. The Mumbai attacks however were an act of terror directly against India launched from Pakistani soil. Diplomatic ties came to a standstill and there were no bilateral talks for a really long time. Stopping sporting ties is not a patriotic act at all. However a major terror attack launched from a neighboring nation is bound to have an affect on all areas of cooperation including sports. We cannot continue to carry on with all other activities as if nothing has happened. In 93 or 94 Pakistan refused to tour India citing security reasons - this is not the first time sports and politics have mixed, and it wont be the last time either.

After that there is a huge gap of 2 months and Pakistan is toouring Zimbos. If PCB dont want players to be idle they can immediately schedule a series after the two weeks, like Australia are doing Two week gaps between series are quite common in Pakistan, no? The current gap is more than 2 months I guess

India due to being a signatory of the WTO cant stop trading with PAkistan.It will be dragged to the WTO.But India is under no legal obligation play cricket with Pakistan.You may well be aware that though India has given Pakistan MFN status they havent done so.Also the idiocy of the likes of Ijaz Butt is well known.Also who wanst people like Sohail Tanvir in IPL,come here play take money and then abuse us?Sorry we are better off without them.This is my view YAM you of course have yours.

Not necessarily. PCB can 1) Make use of the window by organising their own T20 tournament by inviting teams that are not part of the Champions League, in a joint venture with other boards. 2) The FTP isnt binding on any nation. If two countries by mutual consent agree to play international cricket during the Champions league time, I dont think ICC can do anything about it.

Gul didnt say that,he said Ganguly wasnt a good captain and not fit for T20.not the exact words but something along those lines.Well you as a Pakistani can tolerate the clowning of Afridi,I as an Indian dont see a reason why people like Afridi or Sohail Tanvir be ever allowed to play in IPL again. Bangladesh,Zim etc are not playing them.Play with them.If you had issues with the window you should have raised the issue inICC. Also 5 boards were sure to participate in every CLT20 India Aus Sa Sl and WI.England well they played 1 of the 2 CLT20s and will play this year again.So with 6 boards involved officially or unofficially there wouldnt have been much cricket anyways.
