Sid Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 What a disastrous start to the tour Although we have had many disastorous starts to the tour in the past but this one is very painful.Firstly Veeru missing out because of shoulder surgery and then Zak misses out in the middle of test match :wall:. To add to the problem we have an ordinary spin bowler and pathetic seam bowler in Ishant :((. And cherry on cake was pathetic batting performance today :mad: Why o why this **** happened to us at the start of this important tour :(( :whine:

Karan114 Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 Hardly anything new...in Sri Lanka last year, they made us follow on and we lost by 10 wickets. Zak was injured before the series back then too. In SA, we got bowled out for 130 and lost by an innings. Again, Zak was injured before the match. Same old story and it will keep continuing as long as the BCCI keeps fitting Test cricket around the IPL and Champions League, rather than the other way round. Our players also prioritize the IPL over Tests.

The players know this. The onus is on them to protect themselves and prolong their careers. Yes, UK has a thousand faults- you and I both know this. But you can't fault the utter incorruptibility of people charged with the running of the country, sports or institutions. This is a country where politicians go to jail for claiming a few thousand pounds in expenses.

In our last 7 Tests, we have scored 400 in an innings just once.

Karan114 Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 Strauss tends to be a bit conservative in declarations, so I reckon 60 overs of batting to get the lead past 400, giving 130 overs to us. Should be more than enough for England to win.
