Well, that's what you get for having the richest cricket board in the world, the richest players who enjoy demi-God status in a nation that also has the largest number of cricket fanatics and viewers worldwide, and for being World champions. It's always been about favouring the underdogs, criticising the 'big bullies' who trump the rankings, and fighting the 'evil conglomerate' in sport... in this case, it's the BCCI. Even Oz was much hated when it was #1 in cricket, so it's a cycle that will continue regardless of any nation which becomes #1. IF England becomes #1 and stays up there for a while (which I doubt), it won't be very long before people the world over will be baying for their blood. Envy is the obvious outcome of success. There's a lot of bitterness, mostly in the 'Western' cricket playing nations, about the focus on cricket now shifting to South Asia. Something of that nature happened in football too, when Latin America suddenly became the powerhouse of international football even though premier league footy is still flourishing in Europe, particularly England. It's ironic these commentators (particularly the English ones) are rambling on about BCCI's financial clout, when the same sh*t is happening in English football. There's a subtle undercurrent of neo-imperialism when it comes to their attitude towards Indian cricket and its impact, and it stinks, but they were always soreass losers, so that's something Team India will always have to deal with. It was supposedly all OK when they shoved their might down our throats, but they're choking and gagging when it's the other way round Let's just use this claptrap to humour ourselves and allow them to bark all they want. It's just been one Test, and they're already gloating. It'll be all the more fun to watch them swallow their bile as the series progresses.

england are now cricket kings of the world :botham Legendary all-rounder Ian Botham considers the current English team as "cricket kings of the world" and says he can foresee England displacing India from the number one spot during the four-Test series and ushering in a new era of dominance. "There is little doubt that the current English team are now cricket kings of the world," wrote Ian Botham, in his column in 'Daily Mirror'. "What we saw at Lord's was the sort of performance you would expect from the best team on the planet and there will be more to come before this series is over. "At some point, England will take the No.1 title from India officially and then an era of dominance should follow, because we are well ahead of the pack. Every department is covered and without a weak link," he added. England beat India by 196 runs in the opening Test of the four-match series, putting up a clinical performance against their depleted opponents, who were a bowler short after Zaheer Khan's hamstring injury. And Botham feels that India are hoping against hope to beat the strong English side in their home conditions with a depleted unit. "How can India hope to beat us, especially with their injury worries?," asked the 55-year-old. "And as good as some of India's players have been over many years, I don't see how they can get back into this series against a side as confident as England. This has been a consistent trend of by the Indian team as I mentioned before in another thread, nothing that special with England. This series has just started and its unlikely that vvs tendulkar and gambhir will leave england without leaving a mark.
