What has Fletcher Brought to the Team?

No one is saying Fletcher is solely to blame. Buy does anyone here honestly think that 9 regulars magically forgot how to play well? There is an element of strategy and out of the box thinking required by a Coach. Look at how Kirsten brought mike horn the motivator and all the players talked About the effect that had. Yes the players are first and foremost responsible but the bating s we took and right after being kings of the world? Come on people.

Yes' date=' lets blame the coach for our batting failures and pisspoor bowling..[/quote'] I started disliking him when he said Three and half minutes into it, he was fed up. "Huh ... I have covered it. I have been repeating myself the whole time. I have told you it was difficult to score runs. If a man on 40 is struggling to score at three runs an over, how can you expect someone to go in there and knock five or six runs an over?"

VVS i couldnt agree with you more.....So far his fingerprints on this India team is to take out the claws. It was his little brain child to go for the draw against the West Indies. Thats the only tactical decision we can so far peg on him. What are we now Pakistan satisfied drawing with the West Indies?

Deepak agreed...but its not like India decided to suck in 2007 WC and played out of their skins in 2011. There are basic things like having Sachin bat at 4 in an ODI and open in an ODI that a coach can influence. Also Kristen adored Dhoni...said "that the #1 guy id want in a battle with me" etc. Coaching does play a huge part ask any professional athlete. They all detested Chappell and adored Kristen you dont think thats a factor? How do you guys think the players felt essentially asking for a draw against barely a testside west indies? How do you think they felt on day 3 when at lunch Fletcher's big call was "keep doing the same" since nothing appeared to be working. Coaching is massive dont doubt it.

@deepak, Bedi has no right to comment on spin bowling? My dear friend, Bedi is one of the greatest spinners of all-time. He was a master of his craft and used to deceive the batsman with his guile and flight. I'm not saying his skill entitles him to make all sorts of comments (he has been known to say crazy stuff) but one thing's for sure - Bedi sure knows a thing or two about spin bowling.

But he was right :dontknow:. In a test match on a fifth day pitch it was very difficult to score at that rate, especially with so many rules favouring the bowling side without field restrictions or strict wide calls. I am not defending Fletcher here, heck I dont even know how he will turn out in the long run, but 2 test series is not the time frame to test the abilities of either new players or new coaches, esecialy when its clearly our batting that is letting us down from time to time. Fletcher is an easy scapegoat here for fans disappointed with the team's performance.

1. The short ball problems were long there before Fletcher. 2. The fitness concerns with Zaheer/Sehwag were the before Fletcher. 3. And awful preperation to a test series thanks to the BCCI schedulers was also there before Fletcher. 4. Guys like Sree/Ishant/Dhoni were inconsistent before Fletcher. 5. And our batting has been prone to collapse against pace/bounce before Fletcher (against SA recently). I know it may sound good to blame everyone including the coach of the team but this series has been a failure so far because of other reasons than Fletcher. It may suit Pakistani cricket to blame everyone in turns but one of the reasons why Indian Cricket has had the success recently is because the coaches/support staff and team stay consistent.
