Because overall we are becoming less social in real life and more on the virtual? How often do you visit a restaurant to see 4 young chaps sitting, everyone on their Smartphones yapping away without so much as conversation between their friends right next.
I'll take this point a little ahead. People have become so used to the internet now, that it has become difficult to have a conversation for many when they don't have information from google/wikipedia or where on their finger tips. Its the art of conversation that is dying. Its being replaced by this instant information exchange of ideas/facts and the game of oneupmanship that one see online. ( ICG isn't exempt from this either). Its the way we communicate, with more emphasis on facts and on who got to the facts first, as against a discussion on what to do with those facts, that causes so much angst on the internet.

It might be that only the extremist views feel the need to flood a discussion board whereas more 'moderate' (whatever that is) people dont want to bother themselves with the argument. On topic, I'd much rather have an internet macho **** as opposed to a real life one. If the internet is some sort of vent for frustration and anger then we're probably better off for it, right? Just a thought.
The question though is does Internet really act as some sort of vent for frustration? If that was indeed true then over the years we should have seen Internet becoming more "civilized" (if thats the word). The truth is it is becoming ruder so obviously venting frustration has only increased thereby dismissing any cure suggestion. Also, I would be very surprised if somebody is having a problem in life, comes on internet vents his stress and goes out all chilled up. The reality would be very different. A chilled out person comes online, talks to a few bojos online and gets all stressed and flustered. Just my thought.
