DeepFineLeg Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 They are just lobbyists / PR reps / Spokespersons for their paymaster, BCCI. Anything else is just a cover up.
Septimius Severus Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Glorified PR merchants of BCCI. Max Clifford would be proud of these 2
Vijay.Sharma Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 They are just lobbyists / PR reps / Spokespersons for their paymaster, BCCI. Anything else is just a cover up.Duh! I thought BCCI already made that part clear when they made a public announcement after hiring them almost 2 years ago. And you realized it now? Wow! I thought GE and Philips made the best tube lights
Kookabura Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Duh! I thought BCCI already made that part clear when they made a public announcement after hiring them almost 2 years ago. Vijay.Sharma Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 It is a big deal for commentators to be paid reps of a board and yes it is a conflict of interest. Whether Sunny and Ravi think they speak their mind or not' date=' for viewers, there will always be this lingering doubt as to whether they speaking for N. Srinivasan and the board or giving their own view, on any subject.[/quote']You are not "all viewers". You are jut one viewer and you can try brainwashing many more with your opinion. But there are viewers who don't share your opinion. I believe each commentator represents his own biases and no amount of payment will help change that. Just coz he signs up with BCCI is not gonna make him pro-BCCI suddenly. He signs up with BCCI because he has been pro-BCCI before. Let ECB give Gavva a contract and I bet his reaction will be identical to the reaction 'Olding will have when BCCI offers him a contract.
DeepFineLeg Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 And what is good, phaedrus, and what is not good. Need we ask anyone to tell us these things!
Number Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Why don't you guys think that BCCI who has bought most of the boards can't buy somebody like Holding(who left WI for carry packer) or Atherton etc. I agree what shashtri did was wrong at that level , but I think more than money.. he was being a patriot. I felt like saying the same words to Nassir who is 24X7 BCCI basher.
Vijay.Sharma Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Well, it's news to most people. Just read the comments on news portals. Stop defending the indefensible. What am I defending here, again? Your silence will tell me you made that post in the air
Kookabura Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 What am I defending here' date=' again? Your silence will tell me you made that post in the air[/quote'] You are a nut case if you don't see the misplaced ethics in this.
Vijay.Sharma Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 And what is good' date=' phaedrus, and what is not good. Need we ask anyone to tell us these things![/quote']In spite of knowing what is good and not good, you are arguing whatever it is that you are arguing? Man, you are some honest person there. In case you didn't know this, my friend, lemme help you. Good and bad change in time, space, perspective, and context. So what may seem good to you, extremely DeeFineLeg, may actually be bad in someone else's perspective. Learn this basic truth if you weren't already aware of it - there is no fu
Vijay.Sharma Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 You are a nut case if you don't see the misplaced ethics in this. You are a bigger nut case if you think ethics and morals are absolute. Edit - O and by the way, you didn't quite bother answering my question...if you don't want to then shut the fu
div Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 You are a bigger nut case if you think ethics and morals are absolute. These guys dont know Theory of relativity
Number Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 What am I defending here' date=' again? Your silence will tell me you made that post in the air[/quote'] now they will say you are a BCCI's paid/bribed member of ICF.
Vijay.Sharma Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 These guys dont know Theory of relativityThat explains it!
Kookabura Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 You are a bigger nut case if you think ethics and morals are absolute. Edit - O and by the way, you didn't quite bother answering my question...if you don't want to then shut the fu If it ain't obvious to you, you are beyond repair.
Septimius Severus Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Absolutely disgusting behaviour by the BCCI and their two cheerleaders. From a philosophical level it is wrong, from a moral level it is supine. ^ and lol at keyboard war above
Sachinism Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 A good in-depth article looking at this whole situation - http://www.outlookindia.com/article.aspx?277932
urbestfriend Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Vijay, what are you blabbering about? It is a simple case of conflict of interest where these two are paid by broadcasters to air their opinion about cricket , but they are taking money from BCCI to promote BCCI's interest. In todays time, space, perspective and context, this is unethical. Just read the above outlook article.
PaiN_KiLLeR Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 3.6 crores p.a. WOW!! Even the Grade A contracted players like Sachin, Sehwag etc get around 1 crore p.a. Why would the BCCI pay commentators almost 4 times this amount? I always sensed the bias in their commentary off late. They never criticize the scheduling of tournaments, lack of practice games, UDRS etc. Now you know why. If this isn't conflict of interest, then what is it? I don't think any cricket board in the world roles out contracts to commentators and that too at such astronomical sums. Time to mute these ch*****s when they start yapping on the mic from now on.
