BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has said that master batsman Sachin Tendulkar should not play in the Indian Premier League if his name was under consideration for the country's highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna. "In my view, Sachin Tendulkar should not play in IPL if his name is being considered for Bharat Ratna," he said. "When players like Sachin Tendulkar are sold and bought, it really hurts. A player plays for the country and not for companies," the Chief Minister said last evening at a function to mark the completion of 75 years of Indian Hockey team's victory in the Berlin Olympics, 1936. Chouhan blamed the IPL for 'ruining' the sport. He also said that hockey legend Major Dhyanchand deserved to be the first sportsman to get this highest honour, though Tendulkar too was a highly talented player. Dhyanchand was the first sportsman in whose name a postal stamp was issued, he reminded. Appealing to the senior players to promote hockey, Chauhan promised all help from Madhya Pradesh government. He felicitated veteran Hockey players and Olympians Gurbakhsh Singh, Mukhben Singh, Inamur Rehman, Charles Corneous, Ajit Singh, Ashok Dhyanchand, Virendra Singh, Ashok Diwan, Syed Ali, Harcharan Singh, Mirranjan Negi, Jalaluddin Rizvi, Sujit Kumar and Samir Dad. The senior hockey players presented a memorandum to the Chief Minister, urging him to recommend Major Dhyanchand's name for a posthumous Bharat Ratna. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/cricket/series-tournaments/sachin-tendulkar--an-indian-icon/top-stories/If-Sachin-is-to-get-Bharat-Ratna-he-should-shun-IPL-MP-CM-Shivraj-Singh-Chouhan/articleshow/9635121.cms

Agrees Completely with Chouhan Sahab and all other like -minded expert critics on the Phorum . What has Sachin done anyways to deserve the highest Civilian Award of the Country other than encompassing Millions of Dollars by playing a sluggish sport in which he always put personal glory before Team goals ? Along with that what he has also done is giving hope to the common Indian in times of despair. Sachin never brought free lunch over anyones table but he brought joy & happiness for millions of his countrymen past two decades . An Indian whose life is spent just to earn bread and butter for his family, Sachin has provided him a sense of victory time and time again. . Sachin turned down a Million Dollar Contract with a liquor company just because he doesn't want to give a bad example to youngsters but yeah thats not enough . Leave Out Cricket or Greatest batsman/Sportsperson argument. Sachin Tendulkar is strongest unifying force in the country His Fan base encompasses people of all ages, people of all places, people of All Religions / castes from Mizoram to Gujarat and from Kaniyakumari to Kashmir. He is only person to be liked equally by Riches and Poor alike. In a country where madness prevails, Sachin is only small hope to Unity. Moreover in a country where Common man's ambitions are brutally crushed by system, he provides sense of relief for common man. Very few people know the list of Previous Bharat Ratna Winners but almost every Indian knows who Sachin is. Perhaps Bharat Ratna is not good enough for Sachin as it is just an recognition that is not required for Sachin . Whether he gets Bharatratna or not I dont care , Sachin is a jewel in every(most of them anyway) Indian's eyes and we can proudly tell our next generations we watched Sachin play .
