Manny_Pacquiao Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 this current squad has plenty of cricketers that shouldn't be considered for the test team in the foreseeable future: sehwag. still hasnt gotten over his shoulder injury. if they keep rushing him back like this, he risks cutting 2 years or more off the end of his career. needs to recover fully, play some first class cricket and ease himself in. you can't drop the porcelain egg. rest him for the west indies series. gambhir. great test batsman, has been unlucky with the injuries he has sustained on this tour but he is another one that could do with missing west indies. especially since he is going to be playing that t20 tournament in september. raina. needs to go, asap. too many obvious flaws in his game. a fine limited overs player, but not cut out for tests. hard working guy though, he can come back a better player in tests if he works hard at his game. doesnt deserve a test spot at present. well, that is unless he wants to reinvent himself as a spinner. i wouldnt mind a spinner that bowls 19 overs for 58 runs and takes 2 wickets. perfect time to bring in rohit sharma. he batted very responsibly in the west indies and has a good all round game. ready to make the step up. he will bat like a 19 year old for the rest of his life unless he is given some responsibility. now this one isn't going to happen, but i would consider putting DHONI under the scanner. he is biggest piece of DEAD WOOD in this side. crap batting form, inept and unimaginative captaincy and worst of all, horrendous wicketkeeping. i think he is carrying a finger injury or something, there cant be any other reason for him dropping regulation takes. if he has to play, why doesn't he just play as a batsman. he will score a few runs against the crappy west indies at home, somebody else can take the gloves. sreesanth. this guy is just ****ing trash. this series better be his last. i refuse to believe he is one of the best bowlers in india. harbhajan singh. forgotten how to take wickets, no confidence. living off a few good performances here and there over the last 3 years. bring back ojha or give ashwin a debut. mishra. crap. turns the ball too slow, hasn't done anything since his first couple of tests. not good enough for international cricket. i think he bats better than he bowls, nice organised batsman, LOL. rp singh. not a test bowler, more like a t20 specialist. munaf. just another net bowler/tourist these days. no idea why he doesn't get a game. if its fitness related issues - which wouldn't surprise me - he shouldn't play until he proves his fitness in FC. need to find somebody that can bowl with the new ball. praveen is first change at best, not an opening bowler. most indian debutant bowlers impress in their first couple of series (before they start bowling bullshit), so this debut, right before australia, could be strategically well-timed. and that's pretty much it. the pathetic chairman of selectors and his cronies look set to stay for the long haul because of their connections with the board, but these changes need to be discussed anyway. my XI for the windies series: mukund rahane dravid tendulkar laxman rohit dhoni praveen ojha/ashwin ishant some new ball bowler
Ultimate_Game Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Gambhir Mukund Rahane Tendulkar Laxman/Dravid Rohit/Kohli Patel/Karthik Praveen Ojha/Ashwin Ishant Aaron I would keep Gambhir as he's young and will be around along with Mukund to open. At 3 I will have Rahane since Rahane's a no. 3 bat. Tendulkar needs to get runs at 4 before the Aus series and I will have either Laxman or Dravid at 5 since we are playing against WI at home so it's time we give a break to Dravid or Laxman before the other Test series. Similarly I would rest Dhoni as well since the guy has played non-stop for a long time and what better series to rest than the WI one. As for spinners, try out Ojha and Ashwin and also get in Varun Aaron to see what he is capable of.
Ravi. Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 I dont understand why do some people want Ishant in the team. Guy has played 36 test matches and has no clue what he is doing. He cant even swing the ball in english conditions.
Ultimate_Game Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 I dont understand why do some people want Ishant in the team. Guy has played 36 test matches and has no clue what he is doing. He cant even swing the ball in english conditions. He isn't a swing bowler but a "hit the deck" bowler. He bowled pretty well in WI and even when we had the best days in the series Ishant was the reason for it - Eng 60 odd for 5 in the 1st Test 2nd innings, and Eng bowled out for 220 in the 2nd Test 1st innings. It's the lack of support from batsmen and spinners which finally broke the camel's back but Ishant definitely looked like someone who can have a good future at Test level.
james Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 I would get rid of : Gambhir - hasn't done anything for a while and always gets out edging to slips, did not ask for a runner today - dumb ass Laxman - Can's play swing and looks old and knackered Raina - not a test batsman Yuvi - Not a test batsman Praveen Kumar - not quick enough Dhoni - Clueless captain - but i know he will not go Mukund - Always gets out slips or bowled, not a good tempermant Mishra - Cant bowl Sreesanth - cant bowl RP - Cant bowl Patel - No pace Bhaji - Forgot how to bowl, maybe if he finds his touh again, but needs to play first class cricket Bring in youngster like Rahane, Sharma, Kholi, Pujara (when fit), Ashwin and work with Ishant and new fast bowlers who bowl 140 plus
anotherhawkeye Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 ^ you pretty much want to get rid of the entire team and replace them with India A team :cantstop:
VRV Singh Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 I hate on the selectors quite a bit, but I don't envy the balancing act job they have on their hands after this. A lot is self-inflicted though so screw them :finger:
Crookbond Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Sehwag likely to return home after Test series sehwag. still hasnt gotten over his shoulder injury. if they keep rushing him back like this, he risks cutting 2 years or more off the end of his career. needs to recover fully, play some first class cricket and ease himself in. you can't drop the porcelain egg. rest him for the west indies series. http://indiancricketfans.com/showthread.php?t=270658
FreakazoiD Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 I'm probably going to get some stick for this, but I still think that Sreesanth has something to offer in test cricket. He has a beautiful seam position, a natural outswing action, can generate decent pace (I'm sure he can bowl quicker than he has in this series). His problem is that he tries too hard, and when things don't go his way, he loses the plot a bit. But there's no denying the talent the guy has. How we channelise that talent into something useful, I just don't know!
Clarke Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 ^^ That's just one odd troll who wants to drop Laxman, Dhoni & Praveen as well. How long is Pujara's recovery gonna take ?
Cricket Tragic Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 ^^ That's just one odd troll who wants to drop Laxman, Dhoni & Praveen as well. How long is Pujara's recovery gonna take ? The BCCI told him not to talk about his injury. I think he should be fine for the WI series.
Serani Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 When is this series? Look forward to seeing Fidel bouncing out the superstars on them placid wickets.
Cricket Tragic Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 When is this series? Look forward to seeing Fidel bouncing out the superstars on them placid wickets. Straight after we rape your English team in the ODIs at home.
Serani Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 I just hope for some competitive cricket during the ODI's, this test series has been one way traffic. And as for the WI series I pray that Sammy does not get any wickets and will gtfo of the WI team.

And as for the WI series I pray that Sammy does not get any wickets and will gtfo of the WI team. Sammy did alright in the previous series. He does prevent the WI from playing Taylor, Edwards and Rampaul together though. Roach is also an option and Bishoo is a pretty good spinner.
Pagalpanti Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 The BCCI told him not to talk about his injury. I think he should be fine for the WI series. In his last interview he said he was trying to get himself fully fit ahead of Australia tour so I dont think he'll play. -- @OP Sehwag will miss the ODI series and wont play CLT20, so he can surely play unless he injures himself in the ODI series against England (back home). Gambhir also might miss the ODI series, again don't expect KKR to play many games in CLT20, so same for him. You'd be a fool to drop these both ahead of Aus tour, these 2 have missed many games already, need match practice before Aus tour. While from the holy trinity, I wont be surprised if Sachin skips WI test series, al though it would be good to have him though. Bowlers I'd like to see are Varun Aaron, Ishant, Zaheer, PK, Ashwin, Harbhajan and Chawla/Mishra.
Era of Gold Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Hmmm.....It seems to me as if west indies will be surprisingly competitive. India bowling attack sucks ass now and some batsmen are injured and out of form (though that won't last long i'd imagine) Can WI actually pose a real threat? Oh...wait.....i forgot they're FTB.....nevermind India will win.
james Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 ^^ That's just one odd troll who wants to drop Laxman, Dhoni & Praveen as well. How long is Pujara's recovery gonna take ? Typical Indian not hard enough and no back bone, no wonder we always get walked over and laughed at. We need a big change, the bowling attack with the exception of Sharma needs to be replaced including Praveen. Batting - yes i feel it's time to let Laxman go. Just my opinion, and i'm sure with time i will be proven to be correct.
Manny_Pacquiao Posted August 22, 2011 Author Posted August 22, 2011 When is this series? Look forward to seeing Fidel bouncing out the superstars on them placid wickets. superstars? WI couldn't even beat a second string indian side. easily lost the odis in 3 games and never had a hope in hell of winning any of the tests. if india do things right and make turners, baby bravo and bob marley jr. will have trouble making double figures. don't kid yourself serena, this is gonna be a mauling whichever way you look at it. enjoy your adopted homeland's series victory BTW, it should last until they lose their next game, and then the ingerlunder press will go back to not giving a **** about krikkit and discussing the last slag wayne rooney fondled.
