Yes but you have to see the facts. We had zak pull up on first day then gambhir injured in first test, we had bhajji pull up in second test and gambhir out.then shewag comes and goes injured.every thing that could went wrong went wrong.but effort was never lacking.I have seen indian bowlers with heads down after a day and bowl at 115km .but they ran in even at 500 runs.

We were thrashed in each of 4 matches, last 2 by innings. So the "just 1 series" argument doesn't wash. This could as easily have been two 2-match series, then we would have lost 2 series in a row! A "full strength team" by your definition does not exist. In sport, players are bound to be injured. It will be a very rare occasion when every single player is fit, so you have to prepare for injuries. That is why they take a squad of 16, not 11. This is easily the worst India has ever played, and it looks like the result will be repeated in Australia.

It was a rubbish series for India, batting dismal, bowling dismal and fielding less said about it the better. That said, no one has died. In the end it is just a game of cricket. I think the WC'2007 was the biggest debacle in the history of Indian cricket. India has heck a lot of experienced cricketers in that line up but couldn't even get to the second stage. That was humiliation and this is not any less either but that takes the cake. Again, no one died in the end. Life goes on as ever but for me I will have very less expectations from this team. Dhoni needs to look at the sort of culture he is promoting though, saying it is ok not to put in fielding effort or saying we can't improve anymore with regards to fielding and fitness. That is definitely a disgrace. No wonder fielding is taken very lightly by India. There will come a time he will say this is all we can do with regards to batting and bowling where do you go then? I thought he's almost saying we can't bat any better than this during one or two interviews in this series. If one doesn't want to improve his game be it Dhoni, Raina, Dravid or Laxman it should be time for them to move on and let someone else that can put in the hard work take their place. The reason I mentioned Dravid is because of the way he maintains his fitness and the work ethics. I wish the rest were as desperate to play cricket like he does.

Excellent points. Dhoni's "chalta hai" attitude is the polar opposite of Andy Flower's, who demands constant improvement and at least a minimum level of fitness and fielding ability for international cricket (Samit Patel was left out of the side until he became fit enough). Two years ago England were so bad they were losing to West Indies, now they are no.1 and whitewashing sides - its not just about talent, but the amount of hard work and preparation even the weaker English players are putting in (while India's weak players are allowed to get away with it by Dhoni). With Dhoni's lackadaisical attitude, things are only going to get worse for India.
