Vijay.Sharma Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 I am extremely saddened by the arrogance of this Government. the developments over the last one hour has now put the country in an extremely volatile situation. The Govt refused to table JLB instead they say they will make a new bill. This despite the Opposition: BJP and Left asking them to withdraw their current bill. Now, if any half-wit was present in this Govt they would've agreed to present the JLB as the main bill for discussion in the Parliament (to satisfy Anna Hazare's ppl) and keep the process open to include more points from other people which anyway they were going to do (and which Anna fellows were also fine about). But our Govt insults Bushan, Bedi, and Kejriwal and sends them packing saying do whatever you want to to handle your Anna's fast. How stupid and arrogant that is? The worst thing is that now Medha Patkar is saying they are ready to form a human chain around Parliament if nothing happens in the next 48 hrs. Agnivesh, Sri Sri, and Hegde have made it clear that Anna must stop fasting. But as the other members of the team say, that is a personal decision of Anna Hazare. Any Maharashtra politician knows that Anna Hazare is a very stubborn human being and this bugger will not stop until something concrete is achieved. People, we might just experience our own version of the Gandhian Freedom Struggle of 1910-1948. Gandhi never gave up a fast and I don't think his "protege" will either. Brace yourselves for some truly historic events in our country's evolution. What the fu
Vijay.Sharma Posted August 24, 2011 Author Posted August 24, 2011 Now the Corporate fuTop industrialists have expressed concerns over the impact that worsening corruption has on their businesses and said there is no short-cut to becoming a billion-dollar company other than doing things the right way. "I think corruption has become worse and if you choose not to participate in this, you leave behind a fair amount of business," Tata Sons Chairman Ratan Tata said at an event on 'Higher Ambition/How Great Leaders Create Economic and Social Value', organised by Harvard Business School here on Tuesday. Tata said that unlike in 1991, corruption is now not only seen in the grant of licence approvals, but also in the award of contracts and in changing the terms of contractual obligations. "You have a non-level playing field and those who do not participate in this (paying bribes) live at a disadvantage. A large part of the business community is cautious," Tata said. "You often have young employees who ask me, 'Why don't you just do it (give bribe)', but my reply to that is I would rather like to hold my head high," Tata remarked. "What's happening at the Ramlila Ground signals a great shift of people wanting accountability and not just from politicians, but also from businesses," said Mahindra & Mahindra Vice Chairman and Managing Director Anand Mahindra. "There is a much greater demand for accountability. You would not be able to deliver value unless you recognise this change in consumers, who are not going to buy brands that do not signify fairness and shared values," Mahindra said. "One can bribe their way to make a $10 million company, but if you want to make a $1 billion company, there is no other way but to do business the right way," the founder of Infosys, N R Narayana Murthy, said at the event. Businessmen remaining silent on corruption is also very unfair, Murthy said. Replying to a query on why businessmen are not entering politics, Murthy said, "It is important to give an opportunity to young people. I want youngsters to join politics and we can support them." http://profit.ndtv.com/news/show/corruption-in-india-has-become-worse-ratan-tata-174234
Trichromatic Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Arvind Kejriwal was addressing public today. Few things that he pointed out. ON 15th August, PM MMS said that few people are trying to create disturbance in this country. Next day Anna is arrested and we know what reason was given. Recently PM said that he is concerned about health of Anna. Kejriwal said that if PM is worried then he should bring JLB in parliament. If anything happens to Anna then Govt. will be responsible for it. Few days ago, when discussion was going in Lok Sabha about all this and Sushma Swaraj was saying something. Then she mentioned how Kapil Sibbal and other Congress leaders tried to malign the image of Anna and the movement. Sibbal got angry and immediately complained to Sushma Swaraj that she is criticizing what we said about him, but she isn't criticizing the words Anna used for PM in his letter. Sushma had to go on back-foot and criticize Anna's letter. During this whole mess, Govt isn't trying to justify how their bill is better. Rather their whole effort is on trying to prove that this movement and their method is wrong or they are giving religious, regional color to effort of millions of people.

This is super excellent point, goes extremely negatively against Govt.
akshayxyz Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 On second thoughts - perhaps Anna side is very rigid. But in any case - the discussions should be around merits/demerits of one version over the other and not whether huger-strike-movement is the best medium of communication or not.
Vijay.Sharma Posted August 25, 2011 Author Posted August 25, 2011 Just heard Anna address the people...damn the guy knows what words to use. He has called on everyone to gherao all the MP's houses all over the country. The Govt has seriously underestimated this man. From a third person's perspective I can easily say that Anna's team should give in a bit. But I also observe that the Govt has been everything that encompasses stupidity. Basically the level of distrust in the Govt is extremely high on Anna's side. They are just not willing to trust the Government on anything and I think the blame entirely lies on the Government for this. The Government's behavior has been totally anti-people. They are saying even today that the support for Anna is not popular support i.e. the rest of the country does not think fighting corruption is important. The Government is doing a Gandhari - willfully blinding themselves to the obvious. Everytime this Singhvi comes on NDTV and dismisses off the protest and sez these are just 1 lakh people but the country is made of 1.2 billion, he is digging a bigger grave for himself. Is anyone else finding Manmohan Singh's voice rather irritating these days? I mean the softness and lack of energy in his voice when he speaks in Parliament is effing frustrating man. I dunno I am feeling very disrespected at the site of the PM speaking like a bed ridden mouse. I feel my country deserves a more astute leader and voice. Anyone else feeling it?
asterix Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Team Anna appears to be rigid, but having seen the track record of Kangress (Nobody's taking about their UPA partners as if they don't exists and it's Kangressi ministers, basically hawks like Chidu mama and Egoistic Sibbal are steering the KAngress strategy) in particular and Politicians in general, I don't blame Team Anna to be rigid.. I still feel that Kangress (with proper matchfixing with BJP and other political parties) will get away with it.. The problem is for Raoul Vinci..He aspires to be the PM and including PM under the ambit of Lokpal bill will be problematic for him in the future..
