Robelinda Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Been an Apple Mac man for 2 years, don't know why i waited so long to be honest, kicking myself that i wasted decades on Windows. Used Windows since 1988, and it was a terrible experience all the way, my computing is so ridiculously easy and smooth now, I couldn't be happier. Probably doesn't help you, just giving my 2 cents.

As far as choosing Mac, I was a Windows man for 20 years, eventually i thought "why not just go and get a Mac and live with it for one year, if i don't like it i'll go back to Windows, no big deal". For me, the loss is not experiencing both products and coming to an informed opinion.

The power of simplicity (My fav example - To install an app - drag and drop from disk image to applications folder. Installed. To uninstalll an app - drag and drop to trash. App gone. (Or right click, delete). No registry. No antivirus. Not bloated. (2gb ram on OSX >>>> 2gb ram on windows) , no spyware/bloatware from manufacturer. lots of Good free apps. (ilife) Apple works on the honor system. Dont need cd keys for anything.. iwork, OSX, etc. Terminal. Superbly designed hardware. (doesnt really matter for mac mini, talking about batteries, screens etc) Get the magic trackpad.

Not exactly. Ubuntu requires hardly any technical knowledge and is very user friendly as well. There are geeky versions of Linux, but Ubuntu isnt one of them

(btw, why iMac, why not macbookpro?) People have their own preferences based on their profession/hobbies/use-cases. So, it is not necessary you will be as satisfied as the people whose advice you will follow.
