Ranjha
Uv won india the two big tourneys: t20 wc and 50 over wc. He has crazy amount of mos awards. Madrasis can suck it. Link to comment
Ranjha
& Ashish Nehra & Y Pathan were part of that squad also...yet were overlooked for ODIs after WC. Although....Yuvraj IMO till now failed in Test...& will probably fail in the future also. What has nehra and Pathan been in the wc squad have to do anything with the fact that yuvi was the man of the tournament..the man that won india their dream with bat and ball. Suck it madrasis...we saw Indian test talent without Yuvi 0-4 hahaha..Raina loll Link to comment
rkt.india
Ideally, you will have a situation like England where you have bowlers of the highest quality who can play in two or all three formats of the game. India do not have such a luxury. Therefore, we must look to each format as to who the correct choices are. Nehra is a correct choice for OD and perhaps T20 cricket until his constant unavailability becomes a serious issue. He has performed well in the formats at international level. Whether you want to dissect these performances or not, he has done well at times whereas the likes of Vinay Kumar has never done well. Looking to potential bowlers, Varun Aaron has done well at domestic OD cricket and so he can be a possible one for that format. Umesh Yadav, on the other hand, has a poor OD record and so any attempt to try him out in ODI cricket will and has been futile. problem is not that whether Nehra does well or not. You said that England have some good pacers 5-6 but how they got those pacers. They groomed them and created. Nehra is 33 and he is not gonna play a long. IF we are looking at short term goals, we can play him, but for larger picture, we will have to give new guys chances more chances then they have been getting rather than drop them after every 2nd match . England did that and reaped the reward. Even after getting some thrashing they persisted with Bresnan, Broad, Tremlett, etc. We do not do it. We drop the young guys very next series. Likes of Nehra and unmotivated Munaf are not gonna help us much. Zak is getting old too. We must groom at least 4 fast bowlers who are good enough and can play and replace if some one injures. It will only happen if we play them more international games because Indian domestic does not let them improve enough to start performing instantaneously at international level. IF we again go back to Nehra, we will go nowhere because in 1 year max, Nehra will again boil off the radar and then we will have to start from the scratch again. We still have 4 years to next WC and start aiming at that and prepare our bowling resources according to that. This is the best time, we persist with young generation, guys who are willing to run in and bowl who can improve as they play. Aaron, Yadav, Tyagi, Kulkarni, Rahul Shukla, Srikanth Wagh, Pawan Suyal, Unadkat, Shami Ahmed, Nechim, Mithun, Chahar. These are the 12 guys right now out which 4-5 needs to be taken to that level where we can have at least 6 pacers in group along with Ishant and PK or RP as well if he improves his fitness. We need to see who has will to play and learn who has that kind of potential. Link to comment

Do you seriously intend to put Kulkarni , Unadkat in that list.I would look at on Tyagi , Rahul Shukla, Varun AAron, Umesh Yadav,Shami Ahmed if he is fast, Pawan Suyal, VRV, pANKAJ sINGH P Parmeswaram , I dont find them two any special at all Link to comment

You dont discard players at 20-21 years of age. You give them time to improve. Kulkarni is a decent bowler bowls at 135K and can move the ball both ways. He can be very handy in some helpful conditions. This is the age where they can improve. If you start discarding players at such a young age, you wont get any players even to name. I dont take out or discard any young promising player under 25 at least because they can always improve. Very few are born legends or champions or have gifted talent, but who don't have, can certainly work hard and improve. Link to comment

saneindian
Lol Anderson rested. Most probably dropped given how bad he was during the WC. Plenty of youngsters in that squad, Bairstow 21, Borthwick 21, Finn 22, Meaker 22, WOakes 22 Link to comment
Pagalpanti
Meaker is another bowler who touches 90 mph easily. Link to comment

rajmarie
Anderson was hidden.....because they know he will receive a pasting of his life...because he will not have the help of green swinging wickets. But India cannot expect to just turn up & win....IMO...they will have to play their best cricket to beat the confident & high flying Eng team...who have just defeated Ind in all their Intl games recently. Also the last meeting between these 2 teams in India was a tie. So Indian players have to play their best Link to comment

Tbh, they're only really missing one bowler - Broad. He was England's best seamer even in 2008. Pussy would have been smashed out of sight. He is a mediocre ODI bowler who becomes absolutely useless outside England. Link to comment

saneindian
Looks like Sehwag will not be available for this series. http://www.cricketcountry.com/cricket-articles/Will-return-to-action-when-I-m-100-percent-fit-Sehwag/5955 Explosive Indian opener Virender Sehwag says he is working hard on his fitness at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru and will only return to action when he is 100 percent fit. Talking to reporters in a promotional event, Sehwag said, “I am feeling better. I took one more injection and hope to be fine in the coming seasons." He added, “I am working hard on my fitness and expect to be fit soon. I feel some pain in my shoulder while throwing the ball. I will play only when I am 100 percent fit.” Link to comment
