ganeshran Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Saw this on cricinfo a few days bank. Investec - a bank which was founded in South Africa but entered the UK market when it was 18 years old is the new sponsor of the English cricket team :cantstop: ENGLISH cricketÃÔ bean counters are poised to put pen to paper on a new bumper sponsorship deal with sports-mad financial firm Investec. Current sponsors npower are walking away following a 10-year tie up. And that clears the way for Investec to jump into bed with the best cricket team in the world. The deal would make them the new title sponsor for Test cricket over the next four years. Advertisement >> The new deal is set to be worth in the region of Ž£20million between 2012 and 2015 or Ž£5m per year which is a significant improvement on the most recent npower deal. That comes down to the fact that the deal will contain not one, but two high-profile Ashes series . The desire to stop the World Cup from following straight after an Ashes series Down Under is the reason for the switch. And it means the Aussies will be touring in 2013 and 2015. Now believed to be in its final stages, the deal has come along just as Investec pulled out of sponsoring England rugbyÃÔ autumn Ž*internationals. It will also compliment their current deals on the shirts of Tottenham and for the Derby. Just as in 2005, the England and Wales cricket board are keen to cash in on the success of the national side. And while they remain the No.1 ranked team, there are plans to add an official soft drinks brand and travel agent as well. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/cricket/2011/08/20/england-cricket-secure-20million-investec-test-sponsorship-deal-115875-23357701/
