Tihar authorities, in pursuance of the court's direction on Tuesday seeking an explanation on what necessitated his admission in AIIMS, filed its report saying a "super specialist team of five doctors" examined the politician on the evening of September 12 and they recommended that "the patient requires care under an institute where all specialities and super specialities care is available... preferably AIIMS". The jail superintendent, also annexed a copy of a letter written to him by a senior medical officer advising shifting Singh to AIIMS. "It is to inform you that patient/prisoner Amar Singh was examined by a board of doctors on September 12 and they have recommended that inmate/patient should be referred to AIIMS in view of multiple ailments and post-renal transplant state," the letter said. Meanwhile, the report submitted by AIIMS before the court said the politician needed psychiatric consultation for anxiety and restlessness. "For his anxiety and restlessness, a psychiatry consultation has also been sought." The premier health institute told the court that Singh, who had a kidney transplant in 2009, was suffering from multiple health problems and was prone to infections. "He continues to have vomitting and diarrhoea for which the gastroenterologist has suggested automatic function tests and endoscopy with mucosal biopsy," the report said. AIIMS said in its report that any kidney transplant patient, showing more than 30% acute rise in S Creatinine level, needs hospitalisation. It added that Amar Singh was showing signs of "fluctuating" health. Singh was admitted to AIIMS following complications related to post-renal transplant, diarrhoea, urinary tract infection, diabetes, dehydration and hypothyroid hypertension, Sanjay Gupta, additional professor of the department of nephrology at AIIMS, said in his report. Singh was arrested on September 6 in connection with the cash-for-vote scam and the court is going to hear arguments on Thursday on his interim bail plea. His regular bail plea is listed for hearing on September 19. Lokpal or not, these guys will always have their way out.
