Cricketers as Athletes

All this talk of lack of pace bowling, diet and what not got me wondering as to how many cricketers we've really had who could also be classified as athletes in the general sense. In my opinion these are some of the best athletes India has had in order: Kapil Dev - no question, numero uno, could bowl all day, good fielder too, and could probably play really well in other more intense sports like basketball, tennis, footie etc. Day light... Sir Agarkar - probably has the strongest arm of all 1.2billion indians, and to bowl arnd 140 with that physique is just legendary, great all round athlete Azhar Dhoni - wicketkeep all day, amazing runner between wickets, powerful shotmaking, and not to mention medium pace bowling that puts RPS to shame is a definite candidate for a great athlete Ajay Jadeja Robin Singh Srinath - debatable, always looked like he was about to cry after a boundary and looked a 'soft' character Raina - not sure if he's all that fit, but definitely a good fielder Special mention - Romesh power, Munaf Patel, Atul Sharma Interested in seeing other names I may have missed, especially older cricketers that I haven't watched.

Sachin Tendulkar Could bat and field for 100 overs a day... example, he ran roughly 3432 yards in singles and doubles in his 200 runs innings + hit 25 fours and 3 sixes which requires a lot of muscle power. He also came out and fielded for 50 overs after that. spent over 6 hours on the field at the age of 38

Apart from batting/bowling , a player should be a good fielder, not necessarily a very good athlete. But watching RP , Ojha and Ashwin around 25 years of age with grown belly, it's a bad site. Even non-sportsperson work on their fitness to reduce fat in this age , why these guy can't?
