Jobs is second to none in tht..... i can only applaud.... for example - initiallly, they made some reporters publish news tht the battery ran out in 40 mins.... Apple didnt dispute or do anything on purpose.... they let it float for sometime... then they released a news tht it can last upto 8 hours of talktime..... whoa, the stocks soared.... there are a lot more examples... i follow Apple quite closely cos i have a significant chunk invested on them... The I-pod changed the way people looked at MP3 players. The I-Phone will define what people will want from cell-phone of tommorow. We could have a revolution here. Which is why they have their own loyal fans. Sometimes I wonder how did Bill Gates made all his money? I mean yes PC boom and blah blah but when was the last time you met anyone that liked a Microsoft technology? Everyone hates it. On the other hand anyone who uses Apple product loves it, just see how many iPods you see people carry everyday, and still comes very low on top companies. Life is a b****h

As for comparison of SQL-Server and Oracle, Oracle is clearly miles ahead. The only thing going for SQL-server is the cost. Nothing else. Works good for small business owners but anytime you visit big a$$ vendor they are on Oracle. Or DB2 or Teradata. By the way if SQL Server kicked Oracle's butt why has it not overtaken Oracle yet? King Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 I don't want to get to details but just assume I've spent years on sybase, sql server, oracle and the likes. Oracle is so much ahead of the rest of the RDBMS it will take about a decade for anyone to even catch up with Oracle.

"typical apple fanboys" is right Well you know absolutely zilch about Apple products. Would anyone in his right mind say Windows is better than Unix? Not anyone I know of. OS X onwards is Unix with a GUI. I own a Mac and IPod, have done most of my professional work on Unix and at various points in my life have had the misfortune of working on Windows and have had brought myself close to suicide on those occasions. There is a reason why "Apple Fanboys" exist and its as simple as that its an order of magnitude better.

Life is a b****h Lurks... it is an entirely different business model... it is hard to compare... u r trying to compare a company like Apple against Microsoft/Intel/PC industry(Dell,HP,IBM etc) all together.... Jobs tried to create a niche industry and he has succeeded... Gates may be sitting on a pile of cash due to the PC boom... but u may wanna hold ur bets and see who wins in the end.... jus try to compare Apple stock with Microsoft over the last few years.... Microsoft is havin its azz handed to it by Google...

I think samsung or LG already have a model out and i am sure some models can do everything the iphone can do for a cheaper costs. But its not about who's got the best phone at all. The ipod was never the most cost efficient product out there, nor was it loaded with features. What made it a global phenomenon was its simplicity to use(3 click ,find anything) and for aesthetic reasons. That is the only reason that sets apple apart from other companies.

There is a reason why "Apple Fanboys" exist and its as simple as that its an order of magnitude better.[/quote'] dont mean to piss you off. i own an ipod, and have a mac sitting right here next to my windows laptop. this has just been my experience overall - overrated. anyway, on the iphone - i spent some time looking at the 20 min intro video on the site, plus some other videos, to get as much of a feel as i could without actually seeing the product in person. now, owning a a touchscreen phone myself, i think the biggest drawback for the iphone will be the lack of buttons dedicated to different functions, and the lack of a stylus. or a scroller like the blackberry. i imagine the constant fingering of the screen will leave it dirty. furthermore, texting could potentially be a problem (unless they've REALLY come out with something extra-special) because touching for small buttons (even if they become bigger) could be clumsy. with no stylus, theres no option of handwriting recognition. i admit i cant have tried out the iphone system yet - but i just feel that even using the stylus to poke letters on the touchpad is much easier. with no buttons, you're forced to constantly tap and flick and scroll and pinch. looks cool when steve jobs is presenting it. i know from experience that its a bit of a drag (no pun intended). that aside - i think its still a pretty good product. will obviously sell like hot cakes - has plenty of innovations, and nice touches. should probably perform well given the lovely ipod it is + wifi and all the rest. as long as it performs its original job - as a phone.

Apologies for sounding pissed off. So how are Apple products over rated? You're calling them flimsy? I find Apple laptops and the Ipod to be among the sturdiest in their respective categories. You called them buggy? OS X and none of its associated software has ever crashed on me. Windows does that for a living. I have dual boot on my system. OS X is up and running in 10-15 seconds. We all know how long Windows takes to boot up. It offers me a Unix terminal to work on. Overpriced? On the surface, yes. But if you look at everything you get I don't think so. I would rather shell out a couple of hundred extra bucks and be assured of my data and confident that my system won't crash at some critical time than having to find people recover data for me or asking around for a laptop before a presentation. As for the Iphone, I am no "Apple fanboy" so won't blindly support the product. Let it come out in the market. From the reviews it looks like something unique in a few features like the first phone to have a fully functional OS and web browsing abilities on it. How that will translate into actual performance and benefits is hard to say.
