rkt.india Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 I think Zaheer Khan is looked at as an icon these days. The big question is- "Does India consider a wily fox as an icon? Or should India yearn for an unforgiving speed merchant as a person to look up to?" Both can be icon. It is important form whom kids take inspiration. Even Zaheer was very quick in his early days if he could just maintain his fitness and not lost his path.

And also has an ODI bowling average of 21 to go with her amazing test record. Maybe she is the icon all our budding young pacers should look upto!

MCcricket Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 I am not sure entirely the debate that we need fast bowling icons holds true, with all the media , ipl , cl, speed guns media circus pace is become very important, where we lack is grooming, keeping the bowlers injury free and selecting the bowlers before they reach their prime.Someone like Ian Pont, could be of great help with his knowledge where he could monitor and prepare our bowlers, we do have the bowlers who could potentially bowl fast, they need support.

There is no proof our cricketers are ready to learn anything and the coaches we have and have employed don't know zip either
