Strictly speaking, the term "Third world" refers to countries that didn't become lapdogs of either the US or Russia during the Cold War. Clearly, it's a very self-centred way of looking at the world. As for those who use this term to refer to poor countries, no ****, their countries are the reason many of these countries are poor in the first place. This only proves the point I made about hypocrisy in my previous post, not just in a Cricketing context but overall culturally. "tl dr" means "too long, didn't read".

Again this is off-topic, but neverthless had to say thing. "Third world" in its simplicity is a derogatory word, it allows one to claim to claim a superficial superiority over another mainly on wealth and poverty. The correct word for all you illiterates out there is "developing country". And on England, and specifically alot of the European countries, over the last 100 years these countries have been living beyond their means propped up by inflating their debts. In fact the UK's dept to GDP has been over 100%! over last 100 years more often than below it, infact the UK has defaulted on its debt twice only the past few decades! an absolute sin!. Today UK's debt per employed person stands at over Ž£30,000 ($48,000=>:(()! This can't continue forever, at some point the dough has to be returned. The only way to reduce this is forced poverty (printing more money, higher taxes, serfdom society etc) or colonize new territories to secure cheaper resources (i.e. labour, natural resources, energy). Take your pick.

I agree with vaibhav. Only the educated and land/property owners should be afforded voting rights. The illiterate and the ignorant masses have no right to fvck this once beautiful country of ours. Even USA had graduated voting rights in the early goings after independence. I mean lets face if a person can't read or write, how the fvck can he be given a responsibility to elect the better candidate? The Illiterate and the poor are like stray dogs. So it is the job of the fortunate ones to look after the land until these stray dogs can be taught to act accordingly if they want to be domesticated. And don't think I am being unfair sitting behind this computer screen towards the poor. I'm all for compassion towards the poor. Just don't tell me a vote by a guy, who hasn't washed his ass in 10 years, is worth the same as my vote.

you wanna start that debate again? I stand by what I said. Minds of the poor and illiterate are easily malleable. They are in a compromised state to begin with as their immediate concerns are getting rations for that day and just trying to survive. So come election time, voting doesn't hold much importance and they throw their vote to whoever is willing to pay the highest price. (As an Aside, the first version of US constitution only granted voting powers to landowners. There were some exceptions but that is a discussion for later date). To me, the elected class is like a cartel and they take full advantage of the fact that majority of this country is dirt poor and that their vote can be easily bought through a simple monetary transaction or coercion. The simple way out of this mess is mandatory secondary education for all in this country. But it has been 64 years since independence and we are stuck at 70 odd percent literacy rate (I think in India 8th standard is considered literate, which is not saying much - I was an idiot in 8th grade). Congress' dynasty has taken full advantage of the illiteracy, ignorance and apathy of this country's populace and in my mind has been complicit in maintaining the status quo. Fixing this country can be done through 1 of 3 initial steps : Sweeping changes in the electoral process, uplift the poor through manadatory secondary education or by putting a bullet through the skulls of Gandhi Family thus ending the hegemony of Congress. Take your pick. I'm not against the poor. I'm just against resulting fvckup due to their inadvertent choices when it comes to grander picture.

This whacking is more than needed for this English team to realise their actual position in world cricket. With due respect to their preparation and performance in England (home) against India, it was a disgrace to watch Sky sports commentary during this summer for any Indian fan. Apart from David Gower and Mike Atherton, all the English Commies and players are disgusting. LOL. i can only hope that this animal known as english cricket can sustain its popularity. but then again, even if they don't, they could easily just crawl back into their holes and dismiss all cricket as being meaningless, and go back to celebrating their world famous darts and snooker champions.
