What's with the hype for Varun Aron and Umesh Yadav ? These guys are not express. They bowl about 140 or so, which is quick for an Indian fast bowler but nothing that can trouble good batsmen. The average speed for any bowler in an England, South Africa or Australia side is 140+. These bowlers havent even been effective in first class cricket and dont have any accuracy to trouble the batsmen. If at all the team wants to play them, they should play them in England or Australia. Not on flat wickets where they will be taken for runs and lose more confidence.

Umesh is bowling between 138 k to 147 k consistently, lots of deliveries at 145 k or 90 m and average speed of 142 k. Pacewise that is quite good according to international standards. England has got just Steve Finn who is quicker than this. The average speed of most English pacers is around 133 k to 137 k according to speed gun readings. The average speed of Dale Steyn varies from 137k to 141k. The 140k + average is infact rarer. Only Morkel bowls 138 k to 148 k consistently. Other SAF bowlers are not as quick, I certainly cannot think about any regular SAF bowler other than Morkel who averages 140k + any day. Secondly, the purpose is not to choose the fastest bowler under the sun. We are looking to develop good strike bowlers and suffiicient pace is one of the ingredients required, not the only one. Currently, among younger Indian pacers choosen to play for our country, only Ishant, Umesh, Varun and Sreesanth has sufficient pace. Unless young bowlers with sufficient pace are given chance to play for their country they will never get experience and become better bowlers. These bowlers may or may not succeed but there is very little chance that medium pace trundlers will become strike bowlers. Thirdly, people often talk about our young fast bowlers not being express, but how many express bowlers, bowling between 145k to 155k, have actually become top strike bowlers ? They have either injured themselves and had shortened careers or have not developed other skills sufficiently. It is the 135 k to 148 k bowlers who have become the biggest strike bowlers in history.

I think PK can take rest and let VK lead the bowling with Varun (not sure he would get chance) and Mithun.. Also, I think Rahul Sharma should be given atleast one match in place of Ashwin. Not saying that Ashwin didn't bowled well, I just want to see how England plays against the tall leg spinner.. PaPa gave a good account of his batting but would be great to see any other batsman getting a chance to play in his placce. No other changes..

He was as good as Sangwan.. Everyone forgot, sangwan was the quickest until his team bailed out. Moreover i feel this is completely biased, EXTREMELY biased, for a T20 Tournament, mithun doesnt fit in, he doesnt play regularly for RCB, they should have picked ABU NECHIM AHMED, he bowled well in the ongoing tournament, 4 overs 1 maiden 13 runs 1 wicket.

I would love to see Abu Nechim in ODI's but he was not selected for challenger trophy so his selection was out of question

Anyways the selectors pick players from anywhere... hence why doesnt anyone take Champions League Performance seriously, that tournament is as good as an International Tournament. And to win that and being a part of Top performers should be credited something substantial, not what he is doing now, playing somewhere remotely against some **** team.

If past experience is anything to go by, bowlers like him come in at 135 and rapidly go down to late 120s after the first injury.
